- 3.
My mom couldn’t handle what I was going
through, so she had turned away.
As if my pain didn’t exist if she couldn’t see
- it.
She rushed in, crying.
“Stop it! You’ll kill her!”
“Cassie, I’m so sorry. I couldn’t protect you.”
“How much do you want? I’ll pay.”
She didn’t defend me.
This was her and Jake’s plan, and she
wouldn’t change that now.
“Stop.”
Tiffany stepped forward, blocking them.
Her face was full of false guilt.
“I’m sorry. I apologize on behalf of Cassie.”
“I know that apology can’t make up for what
she did. Cassie was a bully. I can’t stand by
and watch her die. My family will handle the
situation according to the law.”
“To the victim’s family, I am so sorry. I will
donate my winnings to the victim’s family.”
The crowd praised her.
“You’re too kind. Cassie should be so lucky to
have you.”
“Tiffany is an amazing dancer. She has the
right mindset. Cassie is a terrible person.”
Cameras flashed as reporters surrounded her,
eager to interview her.
Someone was streaming the whole thing
online.
Tiffany would be famous in no time.
My face went white.
They were putting on a show.
I would be known as a bully, shamed and
hated.
My misfortune was paving the way for
く
Tiffany.
The pain overwhelmed me, and I passed out.
When I woke up, Tiffany was sitting beside
my bed.
The room was empty. She dropped the act
and sneered.
“How does it feel to be trash, Cassie?”
“Everyone will know you’re a rotten person.”
“I made sure your roommate did a good job
on your legs. You’ll never dance again.”
Her eyes were full of hate. She dug her nails
into my wounds, drawing blood.
I tried to push her away, but I was too weak.
She stepped back, pretending to fall.
Jake rushed over, holding her.
“Tiffany, what’s wrong? What did she do?”
Tiffany started to cry.
“Jake, I don’t think Cassie likes me. Maybe
it’s because I stole her trophy.”
“I can give it back if she wants it.”
<
Jake glared at me.
“Cassie, don’t even think about it. And don’t
you dare hurt Tiffany. I’ll break your legs.”
Mom’s face was angry.
“Cassie, Tiffany is going to be your sister.
How will she take care of you if you can’t
even respect her?”
Hearing their words, I felt my heart growing
cold.
My family, the people I loved most, were
hurting me.
I closed my eyes, tears streaming down my
face.
Before she left, Tiffany leaned in close.
“I have one more surprise for you, Cassie.
You’re going to love it.”
