- 6.
When I woke up, I was in a hospital.
My faked death was part of my plan.
Dad looked at me, his eyes filled with
sadness.
He tapped my forehead.
“You go back for a few months, and you end
up almost dead?”
That was my home!
It was like I was swallowing dirt.
When I was twelve, my parents divorced.
Mom took Jake, and I went with Dad
overseas.
Even though my parents were divorced, I
never stopped talking to them.
Then, I decided to go to college near them.
I thought I could be happy, until I started
beating Tiffany.
I always won, and she always lost.
She started
She started to hate me. She put nails in my
shoes, and pushed me down the stairs.
She started dating Jake.
I told him about Tiffany, but he didn’t believe
- me.
“You need to respect her. She’s going to be
your sister.”
Since Tiffany entered my life, I’d been dealing
with unfairness.
For my brother’s happiness, I kept quiet.
I gave up, and Tiffany took over.
Even my brother and mom.
Did they really love me?
I cried into my pillow.
Dad stroked my hair.
I fell asleep.
I could hear Dad talking to someone.
“We’ve acquired two–thirds of the shares. Are
you sure about kicking him out?”
“It’s my company. I can give it, and I can take
L
it back. I’m not letting him hurt his sister.
“When we got divorced, his mom made me give everything to the oldest. Cassie didn’t get anything. I want her to be taken care of.
Not even his mom or brother can take that
away from her.”
“Send them the information we have on
Tiffany. Maybe they’ll feel ashamed.”
I started crying.
Dad wiped my tears.
I opened my eyes, teary.
“Dad, don’t they love me?”
Dad was quiet.
“They love you, but they also love someone
else.”
I wasn’t as important as that someone.
I was hurting everywhere.
Dad kept wiping away my tears.
“You still have me.”
“I’ll do anything for you, to heal you. You’ll get
to dance again.”
