- 7.
“She should take a test,” Joe says quietly.
I feel a little better, at least someone believes
- me.
Mike hears that and yells, “Stay out of this!”
“Why can’t I? Am I not a Miller?” Joe yells
back.
く
Ever since Joe became an actor, he hasn’t
been treated well, he has no power in the
family.
Except for me, I always texted him during
holidays, and he always sent me gifts.
I walk to Mike, tug on his shirt, say in a low
voice, “Just watch, I’ll handle this.”
Then I say, “That report is about my DNA and
Mr. Miller’s, it proves he’s my dad. As for who
Bethany really is, you can figure it out.”
Mom asks Dad, “What’s going on?”
Dad says, “Bethany is a Miller.”
“What about Abby?”
“She is too.”
He knew all along.
“What are you talking about? I remember
giving birth, I only had one baby,” Mom yells,
acting totally crazy, “Two daughters? Who’s
my real daughter?”
Dad doesn’t say anything, and I know the
answer.
I didn’t think Bethany was Dad’s secret
daughter, Mike must know about this.
If Mike knows, what does he feel about
Bethany?
I say carefully, “Mike, you and I don’t have the
same mom, right?”
“What are you talking about?” Mike yells.
That confirms it.
Mom faints.
Anyone would faint after finding out the kid
they raised was from an affair.
I don’t know if I should pity her or laugh at
her.
I should give them awards for acting, even
Joe couldn’t see through their lies.
No wonder they wanted to get rid of me and
Joe, they probably would have killed us.
Me and Joe get Mom to the hospital.
Joe asks, “What are you going to do now?”
Millers.”
“What about Mom?”
I say, “She doesn’t want me.”
She cares more about Bethany than me.
Even if she was tricked, I can’t forgive her.
When me and Bethany were in a fire, she
asked about Bethany first.
Even after knowing Bethany was okay, she
didn’t think about me.
Mom hurt me more than physically.
She didn’t hit me, but she let others do it, and
she only cared about Bethany.
I say, “She has you.”
He doesn’t say anything.
He hates Mom too, maybe more than me.
