Chapter 6
I skipped home and headed straight for the airport with all my belongings.
I stood there, watching the world go by. I would never come back to Riverdale.
“Goodbye, Jacob.”
When I got on the plane, my phone kept vibrating.
It was Jacob calling.
I was hesitating about whether to answer the phone when it suddenly disconnected.
Soon, a message popped up.
[Mia, I don’t know what you’re up to, but apologize to Catherine immediately and clear everything up. You already have so much. Can’t you give the award to her]
I thought I’d already forgotten about it. But when I saw this message, my eyes still felt
sore.

I didn’t hesitate to power off my phone, removed the SIM card, and tossed it aside.
When I came out of the station, I saw my teacher standing there waiting for me. She hugged me as soon as she saw me. “Mia, you are finally here. I missed you so much.”
She was a free–spirited woman. She’d never married or had children and could go wherever she wanted.
I used to have Jacob in my heart and didn’t understand what she did. Still, I was so jealous of her.
Nothing ever seemed to hold her back.
She looked me up and down and concluded.
“You’ve lost a lot of weight.”
“Have you been bullied back home? Tell me
and I’ll help you get revenge.”
My stiff body finally felt warm again. Meeting my teacher’s concerned gaze, I pursed my lips and shook my head.

I’ve made up my mind to let go. They and I wouldn’t have anything to do with each other anymore. I didn’t want to be involved with them again.
Let’s forget about the past.
I held my teacher’s hand. “It’s all over now, Ma’am.”
She didn’t ask any more questions. She just patted me on the head.
“Alright, let’s go home quickly. I’ve cooked a whole table of food.”
“My most outstanding student won first place in the national design competition. Let’s celebrate properly today.”
As I sat at the dinner table, the warm food filling my belly, the weight I’d been carrying finally lifted. A sense of peace washed over me.
My teacher had been extremely good to me. She even prepared a room for me.
So much has happened lately.

I massaged my temples.
I expected to have trouble sleeping in a foreign land but fell asleep immediately. I came here to further my studies. I naturally only had a little time for sightseeing.
The next day, I dedicated myself entirely to my studies. I spent my days going out early and coming home late. I didn’t feel tired. I just felt at ease and satisfied.
Design was my passion and my dream. I felt satisfied seeing people around me wearing the jewelry I designed.
However, I found myself thinking about Jacob less and less. It was a good thing for me. He and Catherine might have already been close to getting married without my interference.
But it didn’t have much to do with me. I had to focus on my own business.

Chapter 6
Jacob had no idea. He always felt that Mia’s eyes looking at him that day were full of coldness and cruelty.
When she turned to leave without a second thought, he felt an urge to follow her. But Catherine held him back, “Jacob, don’t you remember what you promised my dad?”
Jacob stayed silent.
Catherine’s eyes were red and she spoke sadly, “The day you promised my dad was almost here.”
