I was planning to leave after telling my story.
But I suddenly found out that Mom and Dad
had adopted a new daughter.
And they were raising her really well.
I watched them on an educational interview,
putting that girl in the middle.
The girl had a happy smile on her face.
The host asked them.
“If your daughter’s ideas are completely
different from yours, what would you do?”
My whole body tensed up.
They smiled.
“Kids will grow up, and adults have their own
ideas. Why can’t kids have their own ideas?”
“As long as it’s not illegal or criminal, we’ll
respect our daughter’s ideas.”
The host said, “It’s rare to see parents as
open–minded as you two.”
“We weren’t born knowing how to be parents.
We’ve been learning how to be open–minded
parents for more than ten years.”
I immediately found Lewis.
“I don’t think I want to leave now.”
He frowned when he heard what I said.
“Do you think they seem like good parents
now?”
I nodded. “If I can, I want to go out and see
them. Can you help me?”
Kids seem to wait for an apology from their
parents.
It’s like once they know they’re wrong, the
injuries I sustained can heal.
