After I finished the last page, I looked at the
camera.
“After that, I never had a pet again, and I
never fed a stray dog.”
Dr. Lewis, holding the camera in one hand,
reached out and touched my hair.
He sighed softly.
I smiled at him and took a toffee from the tin
box.
It was deformed and inedible after all these
years.
Dr. Lewis paused.
“That’s…”
I smiled at him.
“It’s the toffee my classmate gave me.”
