After that, I went back to studying like
normal.
I’d always been a good student.
Everyone knew I was a lock for the
scholarship.
But when the list came out, my name wasn’t
on it.
I freaked out and went to my teacher, Mr.
Davis.
He looked confused.
“Didn’t you withdraw it on the system? I was

I walked up and yanked her off him.
Mark was startled but then smirked when he

“Sarah, did you mess with the scholarship?”
Sarah trembled.
“Julie, didn’t you promise Mark you’d give it

wouldn’t have been happy at State.”
I took a deep breath.
“So, Mark, Sarah, you changed my
confirmation, right?”
Mark stopped pretending.
“So what? Sarah wants to keep studying, and

I was so angry, I screamed at him.
“Who wants to marry you? Who do you think
you are?”
I called the cops.
