Chapter 7
The next day, Oliver Hayes stormed into the company and made an announcement. that I had sold all my shares to him.
Liam completely lost it. He lunged at Oliver, landing a punch squarely on his face, shouting for him to get out. “I‘ 11 never sell the company to you!” he roared.
Oliver, rubbing his cheek with a smirk, shrugged casually. “I know it’s hard for you to accept this right now, but you can’t blame me. If you hadn’t done so much with your little Evelyn, how could your girlfriend have gotten so discouraged?”
Liam’s face went pale. “What are you talking about? Who‘ s getting married?”
Oliver, with a mockingly innocent expression, said, “Your girlfriend–she told me her family had found her a marriage prospect. It made her anxious.”
It hit me like a punch to the gut when I sold

my shares to Oliver. The first thing that came to mind was how he would react. I had anticipated that he wouldn’t believe me, and so when I approached him, he immediately assumed I was working with Liam to set him up. I had no choice but to explain that Liam and I had broken up, and I was going home to get married.
Liam stood there in stunned silence.
Before he could react, Oliver had already moved swiftly to secure his position, immediately removing Evelyn from her role.
With my departure, the deal I had worked so hard on also collapsed.
Oliver then demanded that everyone work overtime to make up for the loss.
Liam was exhausted, both physically and mentally, from the chaos that ensued. In a desperate bid to push Oliver out, he started reaching out to his contacts, trying to
secure investment.

Chapter 7
When I woke up, Jameson was already waiting downstairs.
A bit flustered, I asked, “When did you get. here? Why didn’t you call me?”
My father smiled, getting up to speak.
“Jameson has been waiting for
you most
of the day. Hurry up, pack your things and. go with him.”
After a quick packing session, I left with Jameson.
As we drove, I couldn’t stop thinking. Although this was an arranged marriage, I knew I didn’t want to be with someone who wasn’t fully committed, who was half–hearted.
I turned to Jameson and said bluntly, “After we get married, you’ll have complete freedom. But there’s one thing -I don’t want her showing up in front of me. I can turn a blind eye to things, but not that. And, if one day you want a divorce, tell me directly. No lies.”

Jameson laughed at my serious tone.
“What? You‘ re thinking about divorcing me before we even get married?”
I raised an eyebrow and replied, “What if I said I’ve liked you for a long time?”
At my surprised look, Jameson grew quieter, his gaze drifting off as he seemed lost in thought.
“Your photo is still on the honor roll at my high school,” he said softly.
It was then that I realized Jameson had been my junior in high school–two years younger than me. When I stood on stage, delivering the oath for all the senior students, I must have caught his attention. right then.
“You were so dazzling, so bright and confident,” Jameson continued, his voice. softening with nostalgia. “Back then, I thought to myself, I must go to the same university as you.”
He paused for a moment, as if lost in the

memory. “But when I finally got to university, I found out you already had a boyfriend. And at that point, all I could do was quietly keep my feelings to myself. I thought, as long as you‘ re happy, that’s all that matters.”
He exhaled softly before continuing, a slight smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “Later, I came back home and took over the family company. By sheer coincidence, I found out that your father was searching for a suitable marriage partner for you. That’s when I realized… my chance had finally come.”
