He lied to me for six years
I met a pregnant woman at the hospital.
During small talk, she mentioned her husband,
David Wilson, a prominent CEO.
Coincidentally, my husband is also named
David Wilson, and he’s a CEO too. Later, I
asked David for a divorce. But then it hit me
we were never legally married. It turned out
I was the other woman all along.

“My husband’s David Wilson, he’s a big–shot
CEO. He’s crazy about me. When we got
married, he bought me a whole private
island!” The beautiful woman across from me
beamed, her face radiating happiness. She’d
been gushing about her husband since she
walked in with her paperwork. It wasn’t until I
asked his name that my world tilted.

My husband is also David Wilson, a prominent
CEO. Could we possibly share the same
husband? The thought sent chills down my
spine.
“Dr. Sanders? Is something wrong? Are my test results bad?” Her voice snapped me back
to reality. I focused on her ultrasound report.
Amelia Greene, eight weeks pregnant, healthy
fetus.
“No, everything’s fine,” I stammered, my
hands trembling uncontrollably. “The baby’s
perfectly healthy.”
“Amelia, could I see a picture of you and your
husband?”
She breathed a sigh of relief and smiled
readily. “Of course!” She flipped open her
く
phone and showed me a picture of herself
snuggled against David, eating ice cream.
“This was our first picture together.” She
swiped again. “And this was from our trip to
Paris.” It was a picture of them kissing
beneath the Eiffel Tower. She swiped quickly,
as if eager to show me their wedding photos.
“We’ve been married seven years now.”
I abruptly closed her phone. “No… no need to
see any more.” Tears welled up, and my
composure crumbled. I clutched my chest, a
sharp pain stabbing through me. I was
speechless. David and I had been together for
six years. We had a five–year–old son. And
he’d been married to this woman for seven
years? This was the most surreal thing I’d
ever experienced.
