deceived me for six years. He never told me
he was married. He said he couldn’t get the
marriage license because his family
disapproved. I never knew he was already
married to you, Amelia. I’m a victim just like
you.”
Everyone in the room stared at me, stunned
by the absurdity of it all.
Before Amelia could respond, David burst in.
He immediately embraced her. “Are you
okay?”
“I’m fine, I just…”

“It’s alright, let’s go home.” He cut her off,
then turned to me. “Miss, my wife was wrong
to resort to violence. My lawyer will be in
touch regarding compensation.”
In that moment, my heart shattered
