Chapter 3
Grace’s POV
“Well, thought he should be here, so I sent him the address,” I explained. “My husband. said you’re all here to apologize, right? You owe your husband one, too. Don’t you think?”
“Grace!” Simon scolded. “I told you, don’t make a scene!”
I brushed off Simon’s reaction and pulled. Evan in front of Sylvia and Simon.
“What are you waiting for? Come on, just saying sorry to me isn’t enough. He’s here now. Tell him.”
The room was suddenly dead silent, so I spoke again. “How ‘bout you start explaining why you chose your ex as the sperm donor, Sylvia?”
Sylvia and Simon’s faces instantly dropped while Evan tightened his fists, fighting back

his anger. Just as Sylvia opened her mouth, her husband lost it and slapped her.
“Are you kidding me, Sylvia?! You wanted us to have a baby, but your first love’s the biological Dad?!” Evan scoffed in disbelief.
As he shouted, Simon anxiously pulled Sylvia behind her, looking apologetic.
“Evan, look, I’m sorry. This is on me,” Simon apologized. “I was the one who agreed with this, so if you’re upset, hit me instead. She’s pregnant. Don’t hurt her.”
Evan scoffed once more. “You’ve been with her for years! And now you want me to raise your kid?!”
Simon quickly shot back, “Hey, just to be clear, nothing happened between us. Don’t take it like she cheated on you, man.”
I stood there, arms crossed, amused by it
all. I couldn’t believe how flawed their
perspective was.
But Evan wasn’t going to let it slide. He

clenched his teeth and threw a punch at Simon.
“Don’t fool me, asshole! She turned to you when she was scared of thunder like you were her husband! She turned to you when we had a fight! What do you call that, huh?!”
Seeing Simon get hit, Sylvia rushed out. She slapped Evan and yelled, “Enough! Why don’t you blame yourself? After all, it’s your fault you can’t give me a baby!”
Evan’s eyes were blazing with rage. “Right! But why not find someone else? Why him?!”
“Why would I look for a stranger’s sperm?!” Sylvia snapped. “I want my beloved’s!”
I scoffed from the side; at last, she
admitted it.
Evan was fuming over his wife’s
confession. He swung again, hitting Simon. With a fight about to erupt, I hurried to the door and stepped outside.

Soon, the room filled with shouts and the sound of chairs crashing.
Lucky me, I had a client who knew Evan; he’d posted photos with him and his wife, or I wouldn’t have seen this drama unfold.
Once I got home, I got a call from a police station. They asked me to come in and give
a statement.
In the station, I found Simon and his buddies with purple marks on their faces. As expected, Simon shot daggers at me with his eyes.
Thinking Simon might lash out, Ryder quickly restrained his best friend and shot me a warning glance.
I just smirked and followed the cop into a
room.
When they let me go home, it was already past midnight. I heard Sylvia was having complications due to stress and had been rushed to the hospital.

I walked out of the station, leaving Simon and his buddies there.
A week later, I saw Simon again when he asked me to help with the divorce papers.
But it seemed we had something else to do because he drove to the villa we used to live in. “Thought you wanted help ‘bout the papers?” I said.
With a mocking tone, he answered, “Well, darling, you gotta do me a favor first. Beg Sylvia to forgive you.”
