Nobody ever has time or energy to find out
the truth online.
Mia’s post completely twisted the situation,
creating a full–blown scandal.
Mia publicly revealed my name, and my
picture.
The users online did some digging and found
all my personal information.
く
They flooded the school forum, calling me
crazy, a jealous loser, a cockroach who
couldn’t stand to see others be happy.
The school called me in, warning me that my
behavior was giving the school a bad
reputation.
“We’re not trying to interfere with your
private life, but if this continues, you might
not get that exchange program you
wanted….”
The school had an exchange program
overseas.
Some of the professors had encouraged me
to apply.
But back then, I only wanted to get into
Liam’s grad program, so I just focused on my
grades.
And I didn’t want to do long distance with
Liam, so I turned them down.
The day I came back with my busted laptop, I
changed my mind.
I applied for the exchange program two hours
before the deadline.
I had the grades to make it, but after all of
this drama…
My professor’s phone screen showed Mia’s
profile.
She had posted again.

In the picture, she had an IV drip.
And next to her was a long slender hand
mixing some medicine.
The caption said: “When you are here, the
medicine doesn’t taste so bad.”
Everyone in the comments was wishing her
and this mysterious man well.
And some people even threw some shade at
- me.
[That’s what you get when you’re the
“chosen one“, if someone else saw that,
they’d be jealous!]
Ha.

When I was sick, Liam had just told me to
drink water.
I looked away from the screen and pulled out
my phone.
I opened my drafts.
And I found the evidence I’d stayed up all
night compiling.
Everything I had to prove how happy Liam
and I had been.
I had been planning to show it to the world on
my wedding day.
But now it was my lifeline.
I hit send.
“You can relax now, Professor.”
