Chapter 13
Two days before Jacob & Ruby’s Grand Wedding…
“Congratulations, Lily! I didn’t make a mistake in choosing you. Your designs are really great. Nothing goes to waste. Everything topped last month and even now, even though they are just new releases. Bravo!” Olivia Monroe greeted her when she arrived at her
fice after being summoned one morning.
Lilian’s ears almost perked up at what she heard. She never thought she would reach wherever she is now. She has only been working as Olivia’s second–in–command for a few months using her alias, but her designs are already well–known all over the world!
“Thank you, Ms. Liv. I saw the poster this morning,” Lilian said as she settled into the
visitor’s couch.
“So, when do you plan to introduce yourself to everyone? I mean, people are already asking about this mysterious Lily who suddenly burst onto the scene in the designer world!” Olivia smirked, taking a sip of her coffee.
Lilian chuckled. “Soon, Ms. Liv. Very soon.”
“Are you sure? Have you really made up your mind?” Olivia asked, her tone shifting to a more serious one, her gaze steady on Lilian.
A brave smile slowly appeared on Lilian’s lips as she recalled what happened last month. After Daniel officially called off his business engagement with Amora, he immediately made a deal with her. She will be his fiancé for three months. When she learned the reason Daniel needed her–to reunite with his real father along with the woman he was going to marry in order to claim his inheritance–she immediately agreed.
She owed Daniel a great deal. If he ever needed her help, she would do whatever it took to support him.
“In two days… the whole world will know who Lily is,” Lilian murmured, her voice brimming with a blend of courage and confidence. The determination in her eyes mirrored the strength in her words, leaving no room for doubt.
Chapter 13
Lilian adjusted her sunglasses and automatically linked her arm with Daniel’s as they both got out of his car.
“Are you ready?” Daniel asked her.
She looked back at him. Once again, she couldn’t help but stare at the man because of his incredibly handsome face. The black tuxedo he was wearing and his clean–cut jet–black hair
fted him perfectly. He stood tall and straight. Even though Lilian was a tall woman, it was not enough for Daniel because she only reached his chest.
Lilian was wearing a white blouse and white trousers. Her long, wavy hair was just down. The thickness of her makeup is just right. The power that screams from her is
unmistakable. Far from the old her.
As Lilian stood next to Daniel outside the wedding venue of Jacob and Ruby, passersby couldn’t help but pause and admire them. They made a striking pair, effortlessly commanding attention.
“Enjoying the view, huh?” Daniel teased, a playful smirk lingering on his lips, never once fading as he glanced at her.
Lilian immediately felt embarrassed and looked away. She still wanted to retract her hand from Daniel’s arm, but he had already held it and adjusted its position.
“It’s okay. Sometimes it’s not wrong to admit that I’m handsome, Lil,” Daniel said arrogantly, and they began walking toward the hotel entrance.
Lilian felt her head swell with embarrassment. She slapped Daniel’s chest, and he burst into laughter at her reaction. She knew Daniel was just trying to distract her so she wouldn’t feel nervous. Despite herself, she couldn’t help but smile.
“Thank you, Daniel… for helping and sticking with me,” she said, looking up at the man as they continued walking. She felt his gentle caress on her hand.
“Stop thanking me every time you’re overwhelmed. I’ll kiss you if you continue doing that.”
Lilian’s mouth fell open, and she couldn’t immediately respond because of that. It seemed her cheeks only got hotter because of the remarks she didn’t know how to respond to.
“Do
ou have an invitation, Sir, Ma’am? The guard greeted them as soon as they walked in.
Daniel quickly handed the invitation to the guard and turned to Lilian.
Lilian slightly looked up to see Daniel when he faced her. He adjusted the hair at the side of her cheek and tucked it behind her ear. Lilian could see Daniel’s genuineness and she didn’t know how to react at all. Gradually, the beating of her heart slowed down and intensified.
I want you to know that I’m so proud of you. Behind that door are the two people who littled you and your child. I’ll let you handle them, but if your ex hurts you, I won’t hesitate to break his face,” Daniel said seriously to Lilian.
Lilian smirked. “You can do that? I thought doctors don’t harm people?” she teased, raising
an eyebrow.
Daniel chuckled. “That bastard’s an exception.”
“Mr. and Mrs. Martin, you may come in. The program is starting inside,” the guard called
out to them.
Lilian swallowed. They exchanged glances for a moment before Lilian composed herself once again. The moment the guard opened the large door, Lilian’s heart momentarily stopped.
Her eyes automatically focused on Jacob and Ruby, who were already in the middle of the stage and had just finished kissing in front of their guests. She tightened her grip on Daniel’s arm, and when he felt it, he immediately held her hand and they walked in together.
All
eyes in the room were focused on the two of them, including Jacob and Ruby. When the two of them reached the center, Lilian slowly removed the glasses from her eyes and smiled broadly at the two.
“Nice to see you again, Jacob…” Lilian muttered and looked at Ruby. “and you, Ruby.”
The two were clearly filled with fear and shock as they heard the whispers of the guests gradually growing louder. Who wouldn’t be surprised by the sudden appearance of someone everyone thought was dead, and on the very day of the couple’s wedding?
“L–Lilian…?” Jacob stammered.
“Yes, it’s me… Well and alive,” Lilian replied with her eerie smile.
She nearly laughed at the double look of fear and confusion on their faces. She took the folder from Daniel and waved it in front of them. Ruby had already placed a hand on her
stomach.
“Oh, don’t be scared. I’m not here to ruin your wedding. I’m just here to give you this. It’s a little late, but it’s signed,” she said, then threw the folder onto the stage where the couple stood,
The contents of that folder were nothing but their divorce papers.
Before either of them could speak, Daniel handed her the microphone, so she faced all the guests. Lilian smiled broadly and held her head high.
“Good day, everyone! I’m Lílian, Jacob’s ex–wife. Obviously, I’m alive, unlike the rumors that spread before. I just want to take this opportunity to congratulate my ex–husband for impregnating his assistant while still married to me. I’m so much happier for them,” Lilian announced to the crowd.
At that moment, the news quickly spread around the world, as it was being live–broadcast, just as Ruby had wanted. Ruby had hoped the whole world would know that she was the new Mrs. Evans. But Lilian had other plans. She delivered a special gift, and it seemed the world would hear something very different from what Ruby had intended.
