Chapter 2
As soon as Lillian finished speaking, she saw a woman approaching. The woman gave her a once–over, then possessively linked arms with Daniel. Sensing the hostility, Lillian explained calmly, “I’m Dr. Martin’s patient. Since I’m pregnant, it’s inconvenient for me to get around, so he offered to give me a ride.” The clarification eased the woman’s expression.
Allian
lian nodded politely. “I’ll leave you two to your time together,” she said, then walked
away.
Amora Carter settled into Daniel’s car and spoke with a soft tone. “So, this is the ‘white moonlight‘ you can’t forget? She doesn’t seem interested in being involved with you.” Daniel’s face remained impassive.
Amora smirked. “Fine, I won’t say more. Just don’t cause any mess before our wedding.” Daniel pressed his lips together, his gaze flicking to the rearview mirror, where he saw a tall man talking to Lillian.
He hit the gas, and the car sped off.
Lillian discreetly looked away and then lifted her head to face Richard Evans, offering a
faint smile. “Thanks for this.”
“No problem; my teammates and I were just eating nearby.” Richard walked her to the car,
opened the door, and casually asked, “Is my brother still insisting on a divorce?”
Lillian lowered her gaze. “This is adult business. You don’t need to worry about it.”
Richard started the car, his gaze lingering on her. “I’m 19 now, Lillian. Can’t I at least ask?”
She pressed her lips together, saying nothing. But Richard leaned closer, relentless.
“Sis–in–law, you weren’t like this when you sat on my lap coaxing me to drink.”
Her face flushed and then turned pale. She couldn’t hold back. “Richard, if you’re not ready
to handle this, then go tell your brother the truth. Stop bringing it up with me!”
Seeing her anger, Richard quickly apologized. “I’m sorry, okay? Lillian, don’t be mad.” His antics exasperated her. “Stop the car. I don’t need a ride.”

Chapter 2
With a screech, the car halted by the roadside. She got out and shut the door firmly Before walking off
Back at her place, Lillian opened the door with her key. It was Chloe’s house. The aroma of
food filled the air as Chloe peeked out from the kitchen, “You’re back? How was the
check–up? I made your favorite roast turkey.”
Something inside her softened. Lillian walked over and hugged Chloe, speaking in a
muffled voice. “I ran into Daniel. He’s working as a doctor downtown now.”
Chloe was shocked. “Isn’t the world small? A reunion after so long? Did he ever explain
what happened back then?”
Lillian let go, lowering her head. “I don’t need an explanation. Seven years have passed. I’ve long forgotten.”
Chloe turned down the stove, then pulled Lillian to sit on the sofa. With a mocking smile, she said, “Forgotten? If you really had, you wouldn’t have gone back to beg your mom
when his family was in trouble!”
Lillian mumbled, “It was just helping a classmate.”
Chloe poked her forehead. “Stubborn as always!”
Feeling exhausted, Lillian leaned back. “Forget it. No more talking about him. He has a fiancée now, and I’m married. It’s time to move on.”
Just as she finished speaking, her phone buzzed in her pocket–it was a friend request on Instagram from Daniel. Lillian stared at it for a while before finally accepting. But Daniel didn’t message her right away.
That night, unable to sleep, Lillian tossed and turned. When she was finally drifting off, Daniel’s message popped up.
“Lillian, let’s find a time to talk.”
