Chapter 6
Kayla’s POV
The moment I sat on the plane my phone beeped, I looked at the screen and saw a
text from my mother “Have you come to a decision yet?” I sighed and clicked on flight
mood.
Two days prior, my mother’s voice had trembled with excitement as she delivered
the unexpected news over the phone.
“Kayla, the Nicklaus Family has made an offer. They’re proposing an arranged marriage between you and their second son, Hardin Nicklaus.”
I’d heard whispers about Hardin Nicklaus, a powerful CEO shrouded in mystery, with a reputation for being aloof and detached, particularly when it came to women. The mere thought of marrying a stranger, especially one as formidable as him, sent a shiver down my spine.

Yet, after all I’d endured, I felt an inexplicable sense of readiness to leap into. the unknown.
Hours later I arrived at the London airport, I didn’t inform my family about my arrival, I wanted to surprise them, after years of staying in Virginia because of Vincent I was finally going back home.
As I emerged from the airport, lugging my suitcase behind me, a sudden commotion seized my attention. A bald man was yanking a satchel from a middle–aged woman’s grasp. Without hesitation, I sprinted after the thief, my feet pounding the pavement. Halfway through his escape, the man dropped the satchel, and I retrieved it, breathlessly.
But to my dismay, it was empty, and my stomach plummeted. As I turned back toward my luggage, my eyes widened in horror. The middle–aged woman was dragging my suitcase away, already mounting the bald man’s electric scooter.

Panic surged through my chest as I watched my belongings being stolen. But before I could react, a tall figure appeared out of nowhere. With a swift and precise kick, he sent both thieves tumbling off the
scooter.
Before I could fully process what had just happened, the stranger retrieved my suitcase and handed it to me. I stuttered a heartfelt “thank you” as relief washed over
- me.
“Watch over your luggage next time” he replied, his voice cold but polite.
I raised my head to get a better view of his face, standing before me was a man who was at least six feet with a face of a model.
I wasn’t sure but one thing I was sure of was that he wasn’t human.
“Sorry for your discomfort ma’am” A policeman broke into my thought, and I turned to see him dragging the two criminals away. The stranger who had helped me was also gone, his tall figure

disappearing into the crowd.
When I finally got home my family was surprised and happy to see me, my grandma couldn’t stop hugging me, and I couldn’t control the tears streaming down my eyes, it’s been so long and I missed them so much.
“We know how much you loved Vincent, and we won’t force you into something you don’t want to do,” my mom said when she saw me crying.
She probably thought I was crying because of him and was about suggesting if she could take the pain away but I cut in immediately.
“I am fine ma, Vincent is old news, I am willing to accept the marriage proposal,” I

rejected by Hardin himself.
I couldn’t help but wonder what made him pick me, My family’s wealth and gift were substantial, everyone wants an omega by their side but it paled in comparison to the Nicklaus Family’s immense influence and
power.
“I know you have doubts, if you don’t like him then we won’t go through with it” my grandma assured me.
I forced a smile, attempting to alleviate her worries. “Honestly, ma, I’m more worried that this Hardin Nicklaus might not like me,” I said and she burst out laughing.
The next morning, the Nicklaus family arranged a meeting for Hardin and me to obtain our marriage license. After this a proper wedding would be done.
I arrived at City Hall as planned. As I stepped out of the car, my gaze was drawn to a tall figure standing in front of the building. The sunlight cast a warm, golden
