The next day, Rosie took me to the law firm. We went to a restaurant for lunch and happened to meet Timothy.

To be precise, we met Timothy, William, Monica, Jason, and a woman around my age but dressed refinedly and elegantly.
The woman reminded me of the girl in the photo.
William saw me first. With an unnatural expression on his face, he said, “Mom, why are you here instead of going home?”
Timothy also frowned and looked at me, probably thinking that a housewife like me shouldn’t be in such a high–end restaurant.
Monica also looked embarrassed and did not bring Jason to me.
They all thought I was a disgrace.
Before Timothy spoke, Wendy stood up with a smile.“Hi, you came at the right time. They didn’t have dinner at home yesterday, so I want to treat them to lunch today. Now that you’re here, let’s eat together.”
She suggested two things.
First, William didn’t eat at her place yesterday.
Second, I didn’t cook at home.

Everyone interpreted her words differently.
She had quite an innocent facade. No wonder she could manipulate Timothy.

Thinking that I had never eaten at a high–end restaurant, Wendy deliberately asked, “Do you like lobsters?”
William said, “She has never eaten that. Wendy, please leave her alone.”
They seemed like a family, while I felt like an outsider. Instead of getting angry, I laughed.
“It’s true that seeing is believing. You are very good in bed and skilled in manipulation,” I said with a smile.
Wendy was stunned.

Timothy said angrily, “Betty, what nonsense are you talking
about?”

William seemed to find me strange. He was shocked and said, “Mom, are you out of mind? Your words are rude on this occasion.”
Wendy’s face turned pale, but she still forced a smile and said, “Don’t talk to your mother like that. She didn’t mean it.”
I said, “I mean it.”

Wendy was dumbfounded.
As I was talking, someone suddenly called my name.
I looked back and saw a man who was about my age, but his dress and gestures both revealed his elegance.
To be precise, he was a handsome old man, even more handsome than Timothy.
I looked puzzled. The man blinked at me. “Betty, I’ve been looking for you for a long time.”
I was stunned for a moment, then I looked behind him and saw Rosie waving at me.
I immediately realized what was going on, and I said to the man, “Let’s go for lunch.”

Then, I left without glancing at Timothy and the others.
Timothy’s eyes were full of surprise. He obviously didn’t expect that I would go with another man. After the shock, his expression instantly turned gloomy.
I heard him calling me from behind, but I didn’t turn around.
I wouldn’t even look back at him, who had cheated on me.
