Chapter 6
After the divorce agreement was drafted, I went home.
Timothy was alone at home. It seemed that what had happened in the past few days really disturbed him, so he didn’t even go to work at the hospital.
“The agreement has been drafted. Just sign it.”
I put the divorce agreement in front of Timothy.
Timothy didn’t look at the agreement but looked up at me. Although he had wrinkles as he grew older, people could still tell he was handsome when he was young.
When I was young and ignorant, I was fascinated by his face. As deeply as I once loved him, now I hated him just as much.
His face made me sick, and when I dreamt of him, I had nightmares.
I regretted that I was carried away by feelings and married him.
“Betty, we are already so old. Do we have to divorce?”
Timothy’s tone wasn’t as harsh as before but wasn’t soft either.
He just wouldn’t see the light until he was in the dark.

I said, “Tell me if you’ll sign it or not. If you won’t sign it, I will file a lawsuit.”
Timothy frowned and finally picked up the agreement to read it. When he saw the divorce conditions on it, his eyes widened.
“You want me to leave the marriage with no possessions?”
I looked down at him and asked, “What? You refuse to accept
it?”
Timothy once again looked at me like I was crazy. “I earned every cent for our family, and you want me to leave with nothing!”
I smiled, “Did you earn it? You had nothing when I married you. You know what my parents have done to help you. People say that I’m lucky to marry you. Do they know that you didn’t offer any wedding gifts? Do they know how much I spent on our family? Do they know that it was my parents who enabled you to join the Department of Health and become the dean?”
Timothy frowned, “Betty, what are you talking about?”
I said, “I’m telling the truth.”
Before he could speak, I continued, “Timothy, if you had kept those disgusting things secret, nothing would have happened. You are just too stupid.”
Timothy looked at me blankly and seemed to be unaware of what had happened.

I said, “When you and your lover made out in the car, it was recorded by the dashcam. You didn’t expect it, did you?”
Timothy was panicked. This was the first time I saw him like
this.
“Betty, it’s not like that. Let me explain…”

With tears in my eyes, I looked at him with a smile. “Go ahead. I’m listening.”
Timothy said, “My relationship with Wendy is not what you think.”
I have never found someone’s face so hateful. I sneered, “It’s not what I think? But I heard it. Do you want to say that there is no love between you two, and you have just been friends of benefits for forty years?”
Embarrassed, Timothy stood up and wanted to touch me, but I dodged him.
“I have already handed the materials to the law firm. If you sign the agreement, I will pretend nothing happened. If you don’t…”
