Adrian said, “Shiloh, this is between you and me. Why do you always have to drag innocent people into it?”
Jessie is innocent?
Shiloh felt as if an iron hand had seized her heart, crushing it while piercing it with countless needles, leaving it battered and broken.
Five years of repression, torment, and heartache loomed between her and Adrian, tearing at her every fiber.
“If you think she’s innocent, then so be it,” Shiloh said coldly.
She didn’t want to argue with Adrian anymore. No matter what she said, his heart would always side with Jessie.
Wiping the tears from her eyes, she said, “Adrian, if you’re planning to marry Jessie, then give me custody
of the children.”
The air seemed to freeze.
Adrian’s piercing gaze, sharp as a blade, locked onto her. “In your dreams.”
*Shiloh, let me remind you. No matter that you’re their mother, without my permission, you cannot take Travis away. If there’s a next time, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
Inside the house, Travis kept glancing toward the yard, thinking he saw his father making his mother cry. He’d never seen her look so sad.
Actually, he had seen it before.
It was back when she still lived in the Frost family, before she left his father and left them. He remembered seeing her quietly wipe tears in her room.
As Adrian prepared another cutting remark, Travis emerged from the house, holding Nora’s hand.
His voice trembled as he raised it, tears streaming down his face. “Dad, I’ll go back with you!”
Shiloh turned around, her tear–streaked eyes meeting Travis’s innocent, understanding gaze. A wave of helplessness washed over her.
Travis placed Nora’s hand into Shiloh’s and forced a smile that was more painful than crying. “Thank you, Mom. These past few days have been really great.”
Having Mom and Nora by his side had felt amazing.
Shiloh crouched down, pulling Travis into her arms. “Travis, if you don’t want to go, I can protect you.”
Travis, mimicking her, patted her back gently. “Mommy, don’t worry. Dad loves me, and Marty gets scared when he’s home alone. I’m his brother, so I need to go back and be there for him.”
He continued, his voice soft yet determined. “When I can, I’ll come visit you and Nora. And I’ll bring new toys for Nora. Whatever my classmates have, Nora should have too.”
Travis was so sensible and thoughtful that it broke Shiloh’s heart.

She packed plenty of snacks for him, while Nora stuffed all her favorite candies into his small backpack.
Adrian sat on the couch, his gaze cold and commanding as he watched the scene unfold. Yet deep down, an indescribable emotion stirred within him.
When Adrian wasn’t looking. Travis asked Shiloh for her contact and scribbled it down on a small piece of paper, planning to add her later.
Back at the Frost family, Adrian went to his room to shower as usual.
Meanwhile, Travis tiptoed into his father’s room.
In his nervousness, he randomly grabbed one of the three identical phones on the nightstand, then hurried back to his own TOOM.
Once there, he pulled the paper from his pocket and quickly added Shiloh as a contact.
She accepted his request almost immediately.
Lying on his bed. Travis happily sent her a video call request.
Within seconds, the call connected, and he saw Nora’s curious face peering into the camera, calling out,
Travis!”
Travis’s heart melted at her cuteness,
Travis said, “Mom, can you send me the pictures we took together? When Dad lets me use my phone, I want to be able to look at them.”
Shiloh sent over the pictures she had taken of him, Nora, and the three of them together.
At the doorway, Adrian paused as he dried his hair, catching a glimpse of Travis’s beaming face as he chatted with Shiloh.
For a moment, Adrian thought about going inside but ultimately turned and headed to his study instead.
Back in his room, Travis saved all the photos into the album on the phone, smiling triumphantly when he confirmed they were secure.
By the time Adrian returned to his bedroom after finishing his work, the phone Travis had borrowed was back on the nightstand.
Opening the notification, he saw a message from an unknown contact.
The person had sent a voice note.
Curious, Adrian opened the chat. As he scrolled up, he found a series of photos. Most of them were o Travis and Nora together, with a few group shots of Shiloh and the children.

In the photos, Shiloh’s eyes were filled with warmth, Nora’s smile was bright, and Travis’s grin was a little goofy.
Compelled by some unknown force, Adrian tapped on the voice note. Shiloh’s voice came through. [Travis, take care of yourself. If you miss Nora, send me a message, and I’ll have her video call you.]
