Chapter 14 Miss Nora
The call was answered by Shiloh.
As soon as she saw Travis on the screen, she also noticed Adrian standing behind him.
“Mom, I miss you so much,” Travis said.
“Nora and I miss you too,” Shiloh replied with a warm smile.
She placed the phone on a stand and went to pick up Nora.

The moment. Nora saw Travis on the screen instead of the “bad man, her face lit up with a sunflower–like smile.
“Travis!”
Shiloh kissed Nora’s soft little cheek and said, “Nora, chat with Travis while I prepare your food, Okay?”
From the open kitchen connected to the living room, Shiloh could keep an eye on Nora.
Nora nodded eagerly and began enthusiastically showing Travis her new toy.
“Travis, look!” she said, holding it up proudly.
Travis suddenly remembered the toy he’d bought for Nora. “Nora, I got you a new toy tool” he exclaimed.
Handing the phone to Adrian, he said, “Dad, hold this for me, please.”
Without waiting for a reply, he bolted upstairs to fetch the plush toy he had bought for Nora
He returned a moment later, his face glowing with excitement.
Meanwhile, Marty, who had just come out of the bathroom, saw Travis on a video call and curiously peeked over, surprised to see Nora on the screen.
“Nora?” Marty said in astonishment.
Even though they were twins, Nora never mistook him for Travis.
The moment she saw Marty, memories of him helping the “bad woman” flooded her mind. She turned silent, her pouty expression signaling her disapproval. She didn’t smile again until Travis came back into
view.
From the kitchen, Shiloh noticed the time and called out, “Nora, say goodbye to Travis; it’s time for lunch.”
Nora obediently waved her little hand and said, “Travis, bye–bye.
At the Frost Family, during dinner, Adrian noticed Travis glancing at him repeatedly, clearly hesitant to speak. Putting down his fork, he asked, “What is it?”
Travis shyly asked, “Dad, can I visit Nora this weekend? I want to give her the toy I bought for her.”
Adrian’s initial instinct was to deny the request, but the hope in his son’s eyes made him pause. “I’ll have the driver take you, he finally said.

On Saturday morning, Adrian arrived with Jessie to drop the boys off.
Jessie acted every bit like the lady of the house.

Holding Marty’s hand, she reached for Travis’s, but he pulled away.
Hiding her irritation, she forced a smile and turned to Shiloh. “Shiloh, thank you so much for watching our kids. Once Adrian and I finish our date, we’ll come back to pick them up.”
Shiloh glanced at the Maybach’s backseat and sneered inwardly. No wonder that dog of a man agreed to let the kids visit. He wanted an excuse to go on a date with his precious Jessie.
Nora handed both juice bottles to Travis, deliberately ignoring Marty. In her eyes, he was still the “bad
one.”
Travis, ever the peacemaker, gave one bottle to Marty.
But Marty frowned and looked at Shiloh. “I’m not drinking anything from a bad woman,” he declared stubbornly.
“Marty, don’t talk to your mom like that,” Travis scolded gently.
“She’s not my mom,” Marty retorted, his tone defiant.
Shiloh’s expression faltered for a moment, but Nora quickly kissed her on the cheek and said sweetly, “Mommy’s the best. I love Mommy.”
Jessie, satisfied with Marty’s words, dramatically threw the juice bottle into the trash and turned to Shiloh.
“Marty is allergic to orange juice. Don’t you know that? How can I trust you with the kids?” Jessie said.
Her raised voice startled Nora. Shiloh immediately patted her daughter’s back, whispering, “Don’t be scared. I’m here.”
Adrian, hearing the commotion, got out of the car and frowned. “What’s going on?”
Jessie adopted a teary, fragile demeanor. “Adrian, Shiloh is Marty’s biological mother. How could she not know he’s allergic to orange juice? If I hadn’t acted quickly, he would’ve drunk it.”
Adrian’s sharp gaze fell on Shiloh, assessing her.
During their five years of marriage, she had assumed that even if Adrian didn’t love her, he understood her character to some extent.
But now, his immediate reaction was to doubt her.
Shiloh let out a bitter laugh. “Jessie, Marty isn’t allergic to orange juice. He just doesn’t like anything sour, just like his dad,”
She turned to Adrian and added, “What’s with that look? Don’t you even know your own son? He made up the allergy because he knew you wouldn’t tolerate picky eaters.”
Marty’s face turned red as his long–held lie was exposed. He avoided his father’s gaze, hiding behind
Travis.
