Shiloh was about to ask if Travis wanted to join them when she overheard Jessie’s biting words.
“Shiloh, Adrian may have agreed to let you spend the weekend with the kids, but you can’t be so persistent, right? The children need their time with their father too. You’re making things difficult for Adrian, and also
for the kids.”
Shiloh straightened up, her smile fading little by little..
She sneered, “What’s he finding difficult? Is it hard for him to choose between his biological children and his stepchildren? Or between spending time with his kids or his lover?”
Adrian’s lips pressed into a thin line, his exquisite features taking on a cold, detached expression. His obsidian eyes, calm yet piercing, settled on Travis, who was nestled in Shiloh’s arms.
Travis, come here, Adrian said, his tone firm.
Adrian had always been strict with the children, taking a hands–on approach to their education, never allowing them to make mistakes just because they were young-
To him, Travis had always been well–behaved and obedient. Everything had changed only after Shiloh came into the picture.
Travis had never been looked at by his father this way before. Remembering how his mom had been scolded the last time, his tears uncontrollably began to fall.
Shiloh’s expression shifted immediately. “Adrian, why are you being so harsh with the child?”
-She pulled Travis close, whispering to him soothingly, “Don’t be afraid, Travis. Mommy’s here.”
Nora, too, hugged him and mimicked her mother’s comforting gesture, gently patting Travis on the back.
The little one whispered, “Travis, don’t be scared.”
Adrian’s long lashes cast a faint shadow as he watched them huddle together. His brows furrowed in displeasure.
Adrian said, “Travis, I’ll say it one more time. Come here.”
Travis trembled in Shiloh’s arms.
Shiloh’s tone became cold, laced with anger. “Adrian, this is adult business. Don’t involve the children.”
Adrian’s sharp gaze turned to her, his own eyes now reflecting the same anger.
“Shiloh, isn’t it enough that I allow you to video call the kids regularly? Who gave you the audacity to manipulate them and turn them against me?
“Don’t forget, you’re the one who suggested the divorce and gave up the children. Now, how dare you come here and try to take them back?”
Under the scorching sun, Adrian stood tall and imposing, dressed in all black. His aloof, cold demeanor only seemed to intensify, his dark eyes carrying the weight of a father’s authority.
He had spent the last few years carefully raising his two children, not to have them grow into kids who

“Shiloh, you really know how to break someone’s heart. Do you know how hard Adrian’s worked these past two years, being both father and mother? He’s been busy with work during the day and taking care of Travis and Marty at night. He’s been hospitalized several times because of exhaustion.”
Jessie’s eyes began to redden as she spoke.
“You don’t care, but I do. So, can you please stop showing up in front of Adrian and the kids?”
She reached out to take Travis from Shiloh’s arms, but he refused to let go of his mother.
Travis clung to Shiloh’s neck tighter, his sense of injustice growing.
Jessie, undeterred, shifted her focus to the child.
Jessie said deliberately, “Travis, before you got out of the car, you were so excited to play with Jessie. But as soon as you saw your mom, you stopped talking to her. You’re afraid your mom will think you’re betraying her, right?”
“No, I’m not!” Travis immediately protested. “My mom isn’t like that.”
Travis hurried to defend his mom, his voice louder than usual.
Jessie acted as though she were wounded, her tears spilling over as she said, “Travis, you’re being rude to me You were never like this. Don’t you remember how good I have been to you these past two years?”
Travis wanted to explain but didn’t know how.
The more he tried to defend himself, the more flustered he became.
Finally, with red eyes, he buried his face in Shiloh’s neck, crying.
“Mom…”
Seeing the wetness on her neck, Shiloh’s anger erupted like a volcano. “Jessie, how much longer are you going to keep this up?”
“You want Adrian? He’s all yours. Want the kids? Why don’t you just have your own? Is it that Adrian won’t give you children, or is it that you’re barren?”
Shiloh continued, her voice cold with a sneer, “Or maybe you just like stealing married men and taking children from others.”
Jessie’s face went pale as she choked on her words, her tears still falling. “Shiloh, how can you say that? I’ve treated Travis and Marty like my own children these past two years…
Adrian, overhearing Shiloh’s words, felt a dull ache in his chest. He lowered his lips into a bitter smile.
Shiloh didn’t notice Adrian’s expression, but Jessie did. The sense of impending danger made her grip her skirt tighter.
Feigning distress, Jessie staggered to the side.

Her gaze fell on Nora, and she used her nails to scratch the child’s arm, hoping to provoke Shiloh into doing something irrational.
