Seeing the tension escalate, Jeff quickly stepped forward to explain. With no available accommodations and the roads flooded, they had no way to leave the village.
That’s your problem, not mine.” Shiloh replied coldly. “Jeff, take Mr. Frost and leave, or I’ll call the police.”
Just then, Shiloh’s phone rang. The coldness in her expression melted away, replaced by a warm, gentle tone as she answered the call and asked about their return.
Shiloh said. “Darling, when will you be back?”
“Of course, I miss you. Nora misses you too. Alright, I’ll have someone pick you up when you arrive.”
Her soft conversation was a stark contrast to her earlier sharpness.
Hatred and pain surged in Adrian’s mind, overwhelming him. His vision blurred, and his body swayed. before everything went black.
“Mr. Frost!” Jeff exclaimed in alarm.
Adrian collapsed from a high fever.
“Mr. Frost has been overworked with the Frerton Resort project,” Jeff explained. “He’s been unwell for days. Last night, he stayed up caring for the boys when they had fevers, and now…”
At the mention of Frerton Resort, a sharp glint flashed in Shiloh’s eyes.
So the competitor Monkey mentioned was him.
A while later, Adrian was lying in the guest room, dressed in fresh clothes Jeff had changed him into. His face was pale, and Shiloh had never seen him so fragile.
After checking him and giving him medication, Jeff looked at his weak appearance and couldn’t bear to send them out into the stormy night.
Shiloh sighed. “Fine. Stay for now.”
Jeff’s face lit up as he nodded eagerly.
Adrian didn’t wake until midnight. When he opened his eyes and realized he was in the guest room again, he frowned.
Hearing movement, Jeff immediately climbed off his makeshift cot to check on him.
“Mr. Frost, you’re finally awake,” Jeff said.
Adrian asked, “Where are Travis and Marty?”
They’re sleeping in the children’s room on the second floor.”
“And her?”
“Mrs. Frost is with her daughter.”
“Don’t call her Mrs. Frost. She doesn’t deserve it, Adrian snapped, his body weak and exhausted. Years of

Jeff helped him sit up and offered, “Mr. Frost, the kitchen has some warm oatmeal. Should I bring you a
bowl?”
Having eaten nothing all day, Adrian nodded reluctantly.
After finishing the oatmeal, he went upstairs to check on Travis and Marty. The door to their room wasn’t fully closed, and through the dim hallway light, he could see his sons sleeping soundly, each hugging a giant stuffed toy.
They were in the children’s room Shiloh had prepared for her daughter. The space was large, and the beds
were cozy.
Across the hall was Shiloh’s room, its door also slightly ajar.
Adrian’s gaze darkened as he thought about Shiloh’s remarriage and her daughter. His hands clenched into fists, and his expression turned icy as he walked away.
Once the shadow by the door disappeared, Shiloh opened her eyes and let out a slow breath, her tense body finally relaxing.
The next morning, Nora was still asleep when Shiloh, who hadn’t slept well the night before, decided to go downstairs to make coffee.
She opened the bedroom monitor on her phone to keep an eye on Nora.
After spending two days with Nora, Travis had grown increasingly fond of her, while Marty, despite his initial reluctance, was slowly charmed by her cuteness.
The two boys tiptoed into Shiloh’s room and quietly stood by the bed, waiting for Nora to wake up.
Jeff had already woken up.
As he stepped out of his room, the smell of freshly brewed coffee greeted him. Spotting Shiloh at the coffee maker, he shamelessly asked for a cup.
When Adrian emerged, freshly dressed, he saw Jeff enjoying his coffee. Jeff grinned sheepishly. “Mr. Frost, Mrs. Frost makes the best coffee I’ve ever tasted. They are rich and fragrant.”
Adrian shot him a calm glance and said flatly, “Is that so? Doesn’t seem like much to me.”
Jeff’s heart skipped a beat. Hastily finishing his coffee, he stammered, “I’ll, uh, go check the weather
conditions.”
The rain had eased compared to the previous days, but the forecast predicted rain for the entire week.
As long as Stone Bridge remained flooded, leaving the village was impossible.
Adrian, with his sharp and striking features now slightly pale, stood tall and composed. His demeanor was elegant.
He approached Shiloh and glanced at the coffee cup in her hand. With a mocking tone, he said, “Five years of marriage, and I never knew you had this skill.”

Her chubby little hands were holding onto each of the twins‘ fingers as she babbled happily, even inviting them to climb into bed with her.
Without looking at Adrian, Shiloh responded with a cold snort. “Seems like you didn’t need to know.”
From the corner of her eye, she saw on the monitor that Marty, without any adults around, wasn’t as resistant to Nora. He even offered her his favorite toy to play with.
