I laughed after my best friend gave
my daughter to a human trafficker
Chapter One
My best friend, Jessica, was so desperate to
steal my husband, she secretly handed my
three–year–old daughter over to child
traffickers.
But after Lily disappeared, I actually took my
time, calmly putting on makeup.
See, last time around, Mark, my husband,
believed every lie Jessica fed him. He was
convinced I’d deliberately abandoned our kid.
He beat the crap out of me, then kicked me
to the curb with nothing.
<
Before I knew it, Jessica had gotten her wish
and married Mark.
And me? I was a crazy woman, tearing the
world apart, searching for my little girl.
Jessica, scared I’d find Lily and expose her,
teamed up with those same traffickers and
tricked me into going to Myanmar.
I was humiliated and abused beyond belief
over there.
I only learned the truth from a trafficker on
my deathbed.
Then, BAM, I woke up back on the day Lily
vanished.
Г
“Sarah! Where’s Lily? I can’t find her!”
Jessica came rushing in from the backyard,
all fake–panicked.
I was sitting here with an eyebrow pencil,

Ended up broke and heartbroken, then
Jessica lured me to hell.
Lily was a doll, and I’d always taken care of

She had these beautiful, porcelain skin that
everyone adored.
Jessica even appointed herself Lily’s
godmother and started visiting all the time to
play.
Lily loved her, calling her “Auntie Jess” in her
sweet little voice.
But now I knew: Jessica had been buttering
her up for this very moment.
<
She knew that if I lost Lily, Mark, who
supposedly loved me with every fiber of his
being, would turn on me.
He’d leave me.
And that’s when she’d swoop in to pick up
the pieces and marry the man of her dreams!
Jessica did another sweep of the house, but I
didn’t bother getting up. Just sat in front of
the mirror, casually drawing on my eyeliner.
“Sarah, I seriously can’t find Lily! Why aren’t
you freaking out?”
“The back gate was open. I’m terrified.
someone snatched her!”
く
That’s when I put down the pencil.
Watching Jessica practically burst into tears, I
had to give her props for her Oscar–worthy
performance.
