Chapter 20 Looking for Him
Anna Sutton’s POV
I can make Stefan stay in the end I had never managed to make him stay His car speel off in the night, and he disappeared from my sight without leaving a single trace. I was calm when I received a call from the hospital. I had already expected what was coming–1 was suspended as the public opinions were affecting the hospital’s reputation
I was practically numb alter receiving one blow after another Life is already terrible, after all, how much worse can it get? Stefan disappeared for three days, and I didn’t hear anything from him. When I finally gathered the courage to give him a call. I found out that he had blocked my number I was greeted with the robotic voice of a woman who kept telling me that my ca couldn’t get through Will I guess it is characteristic of him to act in such a heartless manner.
At the start. I had hoped that he would come back after he calmed down. I was hoping that I’d get a chance to explain myself at least. I didn’t care if he lost his temper with me. But now, I was. I would recall the scene where Stefan caught me outside Capeham Residence whenever I shut my eyes. The memories were torturous to me
lan was my last hope, 1 found his contact number and called him to find out that Stefan was on a business trip in Janusville. Ian didn’t know when Stefan was coming back. On the spur of the moment, I decided that I would travel over to find Stefan. I had to take the first step! In the past, I had always been afraid to look for him, as he had always been reluctant to let others find out about my existence.
But this time, I wanted to take the first step. There were no flights to Janusville at that hour, so I had no choice but to take the fastest train there. I kept rereading the address of Stefan’s location that lan had sent me while I was on the train as if staring the address would bring me closer to Stefan
It was nearly midnight when I arrived. I took a cab to the hotel that Stefan was staying in. The moment I got out of the car. I saw a familiar figure in front of the hotel entrance that was right across the street. The figure was dressed in black slacks, and his posture was straight and dignified. I felt like I could see and sense his charisma even under the dim street lights. He was with a few other people who seemed like they were partners of the Jablonsky Corporation.
They were about to enter the hotel, so I stepped forward to cross the road. However, right then. Stefan gazed over in my direction. He saw me! I hastily tugged my lips to smile at him. However, before I put a smile on my face, I saw him turning away with an icy look in his eyes. Then, I saw him reaching his arm over to rest on a woman’s slim waist. He let out a heart! laugh after that. I had never seen him smile that way.
His action made my eyes burn. My lover is holding another woman in his arms. Furthermore, it seemed like the woman realized something–she turned to look at me for a while before she looked away and rested her head on Stefan’s shoulder. It was almost as if she was provoking me! I felt like my presence in town was a complete mistake. I felt like the biggest fool ever! I wanted to leave immediately, but my legs felt like lead–I couldn’t seem to move at all.
I should’ve known… Stefan doesn’t care about anything I do. He doesn’t care about my explanation. He simply hates me, and he no longer wants to see me. Some other people in Stefan’s group let out smirks when they saw Stefan’s arm on the woman’s waist. “You have good taste. President Jablonsky. We should let you get some rest now. We look forward to partnering with you!”
“Yes, I look forward to working with you,” Stefan replied without denying the other person’s comments on his choice of women. Then, he led the woman into the hotel without looking back at all. Cars continued to zoom past in front of my face. and I only returned to my senses after Stefan’s figure disappeared into the distance. It was late at night, and I couldn’t find any comfort in an unfamiliar town like Januville. Yet, at the same time. I didn’t want to just leave after I had come all the way there. However, I didn’t have the guts to step into the hotel as I was afraid of seeing something I didn’t want to see
So, I ended up sitting on a bench by the side of the road. If I keep waiting. I eventually see him, right…? I just want to hear him speak to me… I waited the entire night, and I watched as the sun rose the next morning. The air around me was misty, and I was shivering from the cold morning breeze. Yet, I didn’t want to leave as I didn’t want my courageous act to be a failure. Jou let me talk to him, at least I curled up in a ball as I waited.
All of a sudden, 1 heard footsteps nearing me. I immediately looked up to find a familiar face in front of me. It felt like I had found the light at the end of the tunnel. My head felt heavy, and the world looked like it was spinning, but I tried my best to smile at him. “You’re here…”
