Chapter 33 Not So Secretive
Ariana Sutton’s POV
I was lying in the hospital bed when the doctor came to check on me again. “You can be discharged from the hospital after two days of observation. Don’t perform any strenuous exercises in the next three months, and don’t overwork yourself. Just take good care of your body in case of any complications. Brain damage is a lifetime thing.”
Every doctor had a specialized skill, and though I was one myself. I should still obey the doctors when I became a patient.
After the nurses and doctor left, Lukas was the only one who entered the ward.
I subconsciously looked out the door, and Lukas explained, “Stefan has something to settle, so he left first. I’ll stay here tonight How do you feel now?
Hearing that, I glared at him. “Have you and Stefan known each other for a long time?”
Lukas confessed guiltily. “Yes… I didn’t hide it from you on purpose since you didn’t ask! Anyway, it doesn’t matter. I’m just here for a scenic area project, and Stefan is the investor, while you happened to be renting my house. This is all a coincidence”
I closed my eyes and believed him. Stefan probably wished that he would never see me again in his lifetime, so why would he still try to bump into me?
I should’ve connected the dots earlier since I already found Lukas‘ name familiar previously.
The Sartre Family of Grimsdale was a family that no one could afford to offend.
They had three sons, and Lukas was the youngest. Although he didn’t show up in the media as frequently as his brothers, it was inevitable that his name would be mentioned on news sites.
After a while, I asked another question, “Who came to rescue me when the incident happened? I heard gunshots and saw
Stefan.”
I noticed Lukas‘ body go stiff for a moment before he replied. “Are you mistaken? I was the one who saved you, and Stefan hadn’t arrived in town yet. Besides, he is a businessman, why would he carry guns?”
Was it really Lukas? Only now did I realize that his ‘toy guns‘ were actually real,
Recalling the scene back then when the shot was fired, I clearly remembered it was Stefan I saw. Was I mistaken? Well, in that circumstances, my consciousness was fuzzy, so I could have been wrong-
After thinking too much, my head started to hurt, so I simply stopped thinking about it and asked, “Is that sem… dead?”
Since Lukas fired a shot, that guy was likely not going to end up
u well.
Lukas tutted his tongue. “If he wanted your life, you shouldn’t care about his life or death anymore. Allowing a se’m like him to exist in the world is a waste of resources”
I wasn’t Mother Teresa or something I knew I almost died.
While I hoped that the sc*mbag would get his punishment, I didn’t want Lukas to go against the law. “I–If he’s dead, let’s pretend it never happened. I–If he’s alive, let’s forget it. I’m fine now anyway. Let’s just send him to the police station.”
Honestly, I wasn’t worried that Lukas would get into trouble because of this. To the Sartre Family, this was not considered trouble at all

Lukas responded helplessly. “Alright, I’ll do as you say. You are the victim, so I respect your opinion. Leave this matter to me. Til handle it well
1 nodded and suddenly thought of another question. “Did you know me before?”
Lukas replied, “Yes, Have known Stefan for years, so I know everyone around him.”

I felt instantly at ease. It turned out that I wasn’t a secretive presence to Stefan after all. Since lan and Lukas both knew that my existence was an accident… That would imply that Stefan did not conceal the truth on purpose.
During the two days that I was hospitalized, Stefan never showed up again, so I didn’t expect to meet him again after so many days
I had fantasized about our encounter again, as well as what kind of mindset I should have when I met him. Never did I expect our next encounter to happen so quickly. I didn’t even have time to process it..
I was treated in a hospital in the city. On the day I was discharged from the hospital, it was Lukas who drove me back to the
small town.
Finding out that Stefan would stay for a while due to the scenic area project and that he would stay in Lukas” place made me feel a little complicated.
It meant that I was going to live under the same roof as him once again.
I couldn’t comprehend why he would do that. Why did he have to stay with Lukas when he hated me so much? Shouldn’t he keep his distance from me?
