My face flushed when I saw his bare chest, and I quickly turned my back on Stefan. “Return my phone to me?”

Then, he scoffed and uttered. “Figaro called, and I informed him that you are safe. Therefore, let’s save our discussion about your phone for a later time. For the time being, behave and do not provoke me; otherwise, you will regret it.” Following that, he slammed the door.
After hearing that, I bit my lip and repressed the urge to kick his door down in a rage as I stormed back to my room.
He couldn’t have told Figaro that I was safe, but I could not confirm what he claimed, and the uncertainty caused my heart to pound frantically.
It wasn’t until the wee hours that I finally drifted off to sleep, and when I awoke, it was in the afternoon. As straightened up, someone walked into my room.

Suddenly, an unfamiliar middle–aged woman softly said, “Oh, Miss Sutton, you’re up! Please get up and eat something. I’m Angela, the new housekeeper. From now on, I’ll be the one responsible for your daily needs.”
Her words made my brow furrow, so I massaged my head and said, “I don’t need anyone to serve me. Instead, I am destined to be a servant to others. Where is Stefan?”
Angela replied. “Mr. Jablonsky is at work. He stated that anything requiring his input would have to wait until he returned from work. In addition… You are not allowed to make any phone calls from the house’s landline. However, you are free to engage in any activity you like, provided that you do not contact anyone outside the house.”
What? Am I under house arrest? I was rendered speechless upon hearing that.
Since I was so accustomed to filling my time with work, the fact that I was no longer required to do so and was instead being attended to by servants caused me great discomfort. Angela’s continuous presence bothered me as I tried to read and as she kept interrupting to see if I needed anything to drink or eat. However, I yearned for the days when Abraham was still alive. and I could handle everything on my own. Therefore, the time spent doing nothing felt like torture.
Frustrated, I returned to my room and started drawing to pass the time.
I waited for Stefan all day, and he finally returned home around midnight. Then, when I heard the door opening downstairs, I hurriedly opened my door, went out, and waited for him at the top of the stairwell.
As soon as he saw me, he froze in shock before regaining his composure. “Why aren’t you sleeping?”
I paused to collect my thoughts before responding, “So, what do you want? Return my phone to me. In addition, I have to earn a living. Stop imprisoning me and you have no right to do so!”
Then, Stefan smirked coldly. “I have no right to do so? Doesn’t the fact that you’re in this predicament show that I do? Truth be told, you have no control over the current situation, right?*
Due to his cold and authoritative demeanor, I felt I had no control over the situation. Without a doubt, there was nothing I could do.
“Well, what do you want?”
Instantaneously, a stony expression appeared on his face. “Are you dating Figaro?”
That question caught me off guard, and I retorted, “This is none of your concern. I take it you don’t give a hoot about that. If you don’t want to let me go, all you have to do is kill me. In that way. I’ve repaid all of my debts to you.”
Then, he walked up the stairs, one step at a time, toward ine and drawled, “Death? Death is liberation from worldly concerns. So, killing you would be like absolving you of your responsibility”
I instinctively retreated from him until my back hit the wall, and I could not escape.
permission to do so. There is no reason for women like you to expect a happy marriage. In the same vein as your mom, you have every right to feel ashamed of yourself!
That was the Stefan I knew, and every one of his cruel remarks pierced my heart like a knife. Still, after everything was said and done, his only motivation was revenge.
At that moment, I wanted to laugh at myself for mistakenly assuming that he did not hate me as much as he did. Now, I realized nothing had changed.
Moreover, I realized he let me leave the Jablonsky Family so he could watch me make a fool of myself. Finally, he no longer had the patience for it.
