Chapter 65 That Is Not Going to Work!
Ariana’s POV:
1 quickly agreed and then whispered, “Yoyo, behave yourself. I’ll be right back.”
But Yoana, ever defiant, insisted, “No way. I’m coming with you. Let’s see if he really thinks he can intimidate me
Resigned, I led Yoana downstairs.
Stefan was well–acquainted with those in my circle, so he showed no surprise at seeing Yoana.

That was when I noticed Lukas, who was also there. Dressed in a suit today, he had shed his usual carefree demeanor for a more formal look.
Lasked. “How’s Paget? I saw the reports.”
Lukas nodded. Thanks to you, he’s stable. My mom wants to invite you over for dinner tonight. You can’t say no.”
Something about Lukas tone felt different–more serious than usual. We all knew each other well, so there was no need for him to be so stiff.
Then it hit me. Lukas wasn’t familiar with Yoana, which explained his discomfort in front of a stranger.
Recalling the necklace the Sartre Family had given me in Huntington, I excused myself to retrieve it from my room. “Sure, I’ll come to dinner, but please take the gift back. It’s too valuable, and I can’t accept it.”
When Yoana saw the necklace, she teased, “I thought Stefan gave that to you. Didn’t realize it was from someone else…”
Her words caught me off guard. “Quit talking nonsense…
Stefan’s expression subtly shifted, a flicker of something unreadable crossing his face. He stood and announced, “I need to retrieve some documents from the study. Lukas, wait here.”
Lukas, still a bit taken aback, nodded and then turned to me, “Once a gift is given, it shouldn’t be taken back. My mom believes you deserve it, so keep it. Stefan and I need to head out soon, but I wanted to make sure you knew about dinner.”
As I hesitated, Yoana, ever practical, took the necklace from my hands. “They’ve got plenty of money, so just accept it. Going back and forth like this makes it seem like something worth hundreds of thousands is insignificant.
She flashed Lukas a charming smile, her cute little fang on display.
Lukas cleared his throat awkwardly. “I’ll go see if Stefan’s ready. You two can talk”
As he walked upstairs, I leaned in and whispered in exasperation, “Yoyo, are you crazy? This gift is from their family because I performed surgery on his dad. I’m a doctor. I can’t just accept something like this.”
Youna shrugged nonchalantly. “They insisted on giving it to you. If you don’t want to wear it, sell it. Hundreds of thousands is tempting, right? Don’t overthink it. I’m just a sucker for money.”
A short while later, Stefan and Lukas returned downstairs. Before leaving, Stefan gave me a pointed look. “I’ll come back to pick you up later. Make sure you’re ready, and don’t keep me waiting
I nodded. ‘I’ll be ready”
After finishing her chips, Yoana dusted off her hands. “I’ve got to get back to the shop. I’ll come by another time. Seems like things with Figaro are done. Stefan may not love you, but he’s not letting you go, either. It’s confusing. If all else fails, you could try seducing him. At least he’s good–looking. It might be worth a shot.”
I rolled my eyes. “That’s not going to work! Now go on, and stop worrying about me.”
Around live in the afternoon, Stefan’s car pulled up at the Jablonsky Residence, I was already dressed and waiting, sporting a T–shirt and denim shorts that showed off my long legs.

As soon as I approached the car, Stefan rolled down the window and said, “Go back and change your shorts.”
I glanced up at the still–scorching sun, despite it being late in the day. “Are you serious? I’m not looking to get heatstroke. Last time, you had an issue with my gown, and now you’re upset about me showing a bit of leg? No matter where I go, these legs won’t be a source of ridicule.”
