I held him back with a laugh. “Why stoop to comparing yourself to a rat crawling in the gutter?”
The constant harassment at the Peyton estate wore me down. Anthony insisted I move into our newly renovated home. “You‘ re going to live here eventually anyway,” he reasoned. “Try it out and see if you‘ re comfortable. If not, we can make changes.”
To make the move festive, Anthony invited some friends over for a housewarming party
at the villa.
We never expected Diana to show up.

She seemed more subdued but kept trying to find a chance to talk to me. My best friend blocked her. “What are you trying to do? You should be glad we haven‘ t kicked you out. Don’t push your luck and ruin the party.”
When she couldn’t get near me, Diana shouted across the room, “Trudy! You‘ re about to marry Anthony, so why are you still clinging to Robbie? Aren’t you afraid Anthony will get angry and dump you for two- timing?”
Anthony, who was standing behind me,
fastened a custom–made necklace around my neck. He glanced at her and sneered. “Is there something wrong with her brain?”

When Anthony finished clasped the necklace, he smiled in satisfaction. “Beautiful,” he said,
as he admired how it looked on me. Then he
turned to Diana. “Take your nonsense and your mess with Robert somewhere else. Unlike that fool, I don’t get swayed by a few pitiful words.”
Tears brimmed in her eyes as she glared at me. “Trudy, you must be so pleased with yourself now. You‘ ve won. Even Robert doesn’t want to see me anymore. Are you happy now?”

I smiled brightly. “If he’s been pestering you, that’s his business. Yet, honestly, who else would want trash like him? If you want him, you can have him.‘

As her hysterics escalated, Robert burst into the room. The servants tried to hold him back, but he was desperate, his eyes locked on me. “Trudy, don’t listen to her nonsense! I’ve got nothing to do with her. The child she’s carrying isn’t mine!”
