Tiffany grabbed the papers.
“Thank you for making this possible.”
“If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have had it
so easy.
Tiffany grinned at my six–foot–tall sons.
“Alright, your job here is done, now leave.”
My former father–in–law waved his hand.
“Wait. Now that the papers are signed, it’s
time you knew the truth.”
“What do you mean?” Tiffany asked.
I took a deep breath. I’d been waiting 18
years for this to end.
I clapped my hands and said, “Come on in.”
After a few seconds, two figures appeared in
the doorway…
Chapter 4
- 4.
“Who… who are they?”
Tiffany stared at the two boys who’d just
walked in, looking like they’d been dragged
through the mud.
A knot of anxiety twisted in her stomach.
One of the boys had withered legs and was
stuck in a wheelchair.
The other just stared blankly ahead,
occasionally letting out a giggle and drooling
down his chin.
I snorted. “Them? Those are your and
Michael’s precious little boys.”
Michael’s face went red, and he exploded.
“Are you out of your damn mind? You brought
in a couple of homeless kids to mess with
me?”
I ignored him and waved at the two boys.
“Don’t you think they look a lot like Tiffany?”
People always said kids looked like their
mothers.
く
The little beggars were dirty, but if you looked
closely, you could see they had Tiffany’s
features.
Tiffany was losing it, but she tried to play it
cool.
“Brenda, what the hell is going on?”
I leaned back and crossed my legs.
“Danny and Dylan are my biological sons.”
“These two are the sons you’ve been waiting
for.”
Tiffany froze.
“No way! You’re lying! You’re lying! I want a

But most people already knew what was up
just by looking at them.
I pulled a folder out of my purse.
“Here are the DNA reports for Jayden, Jason,
and Michael. Take a look.”
I tossed the file on the table, and Tiffany
grabbed it and flipped through the pages.
When she got to the end, her legs gave out.
“No, no, this can’t be real. You must have
faked this.”
“You’re obsessed! You faked a DNA test!”
I tapped my temple. “Use your brain. It’s got a
notary seal on it ”
く
The Song family looked at the seal, stunned.
My two sons breathed a sigh of relief and
stood behind me.
Michael and Tiffany’s “accident” always
seemed fishy.
And right after Michael died, I found out I was
pregnant. With twins, too.
So I came up with a plan.
I took those boys in.
I used being sad as an excuse to move out to
the country with the boys.
Two years later, I came back with my twins.

Even my parents thought I was crazy to raise
those kids.
But I never paid attention to what anyone
said.
Because I did this all for today.
Chapter 5
- 5.
Michael stared at the two little beggars.
I said, “Jayden, Jason, these are your mom
and dad. Why don’t you go with them?”
The idiot, Jason, grinned and grabbed Tiffany.
く
“Mom! Haha! Mom!” Jason’s snot and spit
dripped all over her.
She screamed and pushed him away.
“Get away from me! Gross!”
Jason stumbled, and Jayden caught him. He
glared at Tiffany.
I said, “What’s wrong? They didn’t get into
Harvard, so you don’t want them?”
Tiffany was seething but had to swallow it.
“They’re my sons. Of course, I want them.”
There were dozens of Songs here today, so
Michael and Tiffany had to act like they loved
their kids.
く
She glared at me.
“How did my sons turn out like this?”
“Did you abuse them?”
I threw up my hands.
“Who knows? Maybe you or Michael were
messed up, and that’s why they have
disabilities.”
