Idealized Love Never Fades
In the restaurant, my husband Keith Beltran’s good friend spoke to him in a foreign language.
“Isn’t Mildred you’re keeping pregnant? I bet Cynthia doesn’t know about it.”
Keith shook his head lightly, his expression unchanged.
“Cynthia said she wouldn’t accept betrayal.
“If she ever finds out, she’ll vanish from my life forever, so I’ve kept it well hidden.”
What he didn’t know was that not only had I learned foreign languages, but I was also planning to leave him.
In just one month, I would disappear completely from his world.
Chapter 1
Keith chatted away with his friend in a fluent foreign language while carefully feeding fruit to me.
He didn’t notice my slightly swollen, red eyes.
He thought I couldn’t understand foreign languages, which was why he felt free to discuss his affairs right in front of me.
What he didn’t know was that, over the years, I had learned multiple languages and was fluent in five of them.
Even his casual conversations with his mistress, Mildred Clayton, always in another language, were all within my understanding.
He’d been deceiving me for so long, but I had kept one secret from him, too.
One month from now, I would erase all my information and leave for another country with a completely new identity.
By then, no matter what methods Keith used, he would never find me.
I looked coldly at the man I had loved for ten years. His face was the same, his features unchanged, but to me, he had become a stranger.
Suddenly, everything felt so pointless. I didn’t want to play along anymore.
I made an excuse to go home and rest. Just as I stood up, Keith did the same, saying.
“You all have fun. I’m leaving, need to take my wife home to rest.”
His friends sighed, clearly dissatisfied. “We’ve barely started, and now you’re leaving? This is no fun.”
I let go of his hand, coolly replying, “Just have the driver take me home. Just stay and enjoy yourself.”
Without giving him a chance to respond, I turned and walked out.
