Chapter 10
Lydia smiled lightly, glancing up at Henry beside her. ‘Is he your friend?”
Henry gave a cold smile. “No”
Samuel grinned mischievously. “Don’t lie. Henry, that’s not cool. When did you meet such a beautiful girl and not take her home to introduce her? “No wonder I never see you after you come back. Looks like you’ve been busy with romance?*
Henry didn’t bother responding to Samuel. He gave him a push and dragged Lydia toward the door, ready to head home.
Lydia, caught off guard by his sudden movement, hesitated. “Henry, your friend is still here.”
Don’t mind him. Henry’s tone was cold.
Samuel rubbed his nose. “Henry, that’s rude.
As Lydia was being pulled away, she felt that it was indeed impolite, and she turned around and addressed Samuel, who was following them.
Nice to meet you. I’m Lydia Everett, she said.
Samuel, noticing Lydia’s kind attitude, smiled warmly. “Hey, Lydin, I’m Samuel Reed.”
Lydia was led down to the building’s entrance. She awkwardly smiled. “We’re about to head home to cook. Why don’t you come and try my cooking?”
Samuel, thinking he had misheard, exclaimed loudly. “Wait… are you two living together?”
Henry shot him a cold look. “None of your business.”
Samuel became more excited, “How can it not be my business? Henry, how could I not know that you and Lydia are so happy together? I…”
One sharp look from Henry immediately silenced him.
Samuel shut up, quickly shifting his focus. He looked at Lydia, grinning. “Lydia, I’m really hungry. Were you serious about that? Would you mind if I came over to your place for dinner?”
Lydia nodded. “Well, since you’re here, you might as well join us I bought enough groceries for a small army…
Thanks. Samuel smiled
Curiosity burning, Samuel ignored Henry’s warning glare and confidently stepped into the elevator. However, Henry was quicker. With a sharp shove, he pushed Samuel out of the elevator.
Samuel staggered back a few steps, crashing into the wall behind him, watching as the elevator doors closed. He quickly turned toward another elevator but found it wouldn’t open. He didn’t have the keycard.
Samuel could only watch in frustration. “Henry, you’re so annoying
Finally, an opportunity for gossip, and he was thrown out that quickly.
He was particularly intrigued by Lydia, wondering about her relationship with Henry. And the idea that Henry was living

with a woman was a huge surprise to Samuel.
Inside the elevator, Lydia slightly parted her lips. “Henry, don’t you think this might be a little rude? After all, he’s your friend. Henry…
Henry narrowed his eyes, looking at the woman in front of him, her cheeks flushed, her lips slightly parted. The air in the elevator seemed to grow thinner.
Without a word, Henry cupped her face in his hands and kissed her soft lips. effectively silencing her.
Lydia froze, breathless from the unexpected kiss. Her body seemed to go limp like a soft creature without a spine, trapped between the elevator wall and Henry’s chest.
Her beautiful eyes could only focus on his handsome face, which was now so close that she could feel his breath.
At first, Henry had only intended to stop her from talking, but after tasting the softness of her lips, he was utterly captivated. The kiss quickly spiraled out of control
Lydia struggled to break free, but her arms felt like they were made of jelly, lacking any strength to push him away. She could only endure the intensity of Henry’s kiss, her heart pounding wildly in her chest. Finally, the kiss ended. Henry finally let go of Lydia. Her soft body slowly slid down the smooth elevator wall, her lips still tingling lingering touch.

Henry reached out and pulled her back into his arms, holding her tightly. The elevator reached the 16th floor, and the two of them stepped out.
Lydia’s heart was still racing. She took a deep breath, finally regaining her composure. She quietly asked, “Why did you kiss me all of a sudden?‘
Henry narrowed his eyes, his expression briefly shifting to something more complex before he spoke. “You were too nagging.
Lydia silently rolled her eyes, thinking. This is ridiculous. I thought Henry might say something romantic like the lead in a TV drama, but no… he totally killed all my fantasies the moment he opened his mouth.
She paused, continuing to think, ‘But what’s wrong with me? Am going crazy? I suddenly get kissed, and I’m still hoping for some romantic explanation? 1 must be out of my mind.”
Henry calmly opened the door as if nothing had happened. After changing shoes, Henry walked straight into Lydia’s private study.
When Lydia bought this apartment, she had been drawn to its layout. Though it was only a one–bedroom unit, it had a bright and spacious balcony. She had redesigned the study next to it.
The study was simple, with just a small desk and a hammock. Lydia worked as an advertising planner, often writing soft–sell ads. She needed a quiet, comfortable space to let her creativity low.
Lydia stood there, stunned, watching as her sanctuary was invaded. After Henry entered, he arrogantly ordered. “Cook Instead of getting angry, Lydia answered reflexively, “Okay
She walked to the kitchen, realizing that she must be out of her mind, surprised at how obedient she had become.
All he did was kiss her, and that feeling was indescribable. Lydia gently touched her lips with her finger, recalling the sensation she had felt in the elevator.

Chapter 101
Shaking her head hard to clear her thoughts, she forced herself to focus on cooking.
Forty minutes later, dinner was ready, three dishes and a pot of soup. Lydia set the table and peeked her head out from the kitchen, calling. “Henry, dinner’s ready”
As they ate, Henry’s elegant, almost aristocratic aura, along with the cold air that seemed to follow him, returned to Lydia’s
view.
After finishing a portion of soup, Henry glanced at Lydia. Lydia immediately understood, quickly standing up to refill.
Their movements were so perfectly in sync. If Samuel were here, he would definitely believe they had been together for a long time.
Lydia came back from the kitchen and, eager to ease the awkwardness, asked, “Henry, is Sam… a really good friend of yours?”
Just as Lydia sat down at her spot, Henry smiled. “Sam? Are you a little too harsh on him?”
“Sam? Oh, she meant Samuel? She didn’t even remember his name. How cute, Henry wondered.
The icy facade on his handsome face softened slightly, the corners of his mouth lifting, but it quickly returned to its usual high and mighty expression.
Lydia blinked, her eyes wide in surprise. She paused for two seconds before speaking, “Henry, were you smiling just now?”
Henry’s lips returned to their neutral line, and he continued eating the fish, which was quite tasty. He said nonchalantly, “Not
me.”
Lydia tilted her head, trying not to laugh, and said, “Not you? I saw it with my own eyes.
The person on TV, Henry replied.
Unable to hold back any longer. Lydia burst out laughing. “Henry, you’re really funny.”
