Chapter 13
Henry relaxed his tense body slightly. “Tell the security at the door not to let this guy in anymore.”
Samuel frowned, “Henry, isn’t that a bit much? What reason will we give to stop him?”
Any reason, Henry replied with a domineering tone.
Samuel mockingly teased. “I don’t know why, but something feels off about you today. Henry, are you jealous?”
Henry shot him a cold glance. “Can you handle it?”
Of course. For Samuel, this was no big deal.
However, after Henry returned, he had become strangely unpredictable.
Ten days later, Scarlett was discharged from the hospital. The first thing she did after being discharged was call Lydia,
Lydia felt a headache just seeing her name on the screen. After hanging up, the calls kept coming. After a few more attempts, Lydia finally blocked Scarlett’s number.
After finishing work that evening, Lydia left the company, only to find Damon’s car parked in front of the building.
Seeing Lydia step out, Scarlett immediately got out of the car and rushed over to her.
A smile of happiness was spread across Scarlet’s face as she gently touched her flat stomach. “Lydia, I couldn’t get through to you. We decided to come to your company
to find you.
Damon also got out of the car and walked toward them.
Scarlett smiled at Damon, then linked her arm through his and asked in a soft, sweet voice, “Lydia’s still mad at us. What should we do? She must have blocked my number.”
Lydia, fighting the suffocating feeling in her chest, coldly watched them. The two of them looked so loving under the sunlight.
Scarlett smiled calmly, and although Damon showed no expression, his large hand gently held the hand that was linked to his arm, a clear sign of protection.
Lydia Scarlett began.
Is there something you need? Lydia interrupted her, feeling sickened by Scarlett’s false sweetness.
Scarlett looked at Damon with affection before turning back to Lydia. “Because of Damon and I, we are all feeling down. We’re here today to invite you to dinner and to express our apologies. We hope you can forgive us, and that the relationship between our families won’t be affected.
Without a second thought, Lydia rejected it. “I don’t have time!
Scarlett stepped forward and gently pulled on Lydia’s arm but Lydia pulled away.
Lydia, you’re married now, and you still won’t forgive us? Scarlett’s voice softened. “I really care about our friendship. I don’t

want things to be awkward between us because of Damon. “Let’s go eat. My father reserved a private room, and Mr. Everett, Mrs. Williams, and Mrs. Williams are all waiting for us.”
Lydia frowned, realizing that Scarlett was forcing her into this. Just then, her phone rang.
It was her mother, Lily, calling. Lydia hadn’t been in touch with her mother since the mall incident. After hesitating for a moment, Lydia chose not to answer. A little while later, she received a call from her father.
This time, she picked up quickly, and Lily’s voice came through, sounding a bit gentler. “Did Scarlett and Damon manage to reach you?
We are waiting for you. You will come, right, good girl? Your father wants you to come soon.
Lydia frowned helplessly, and Scarlett seized the opportunity, grabbing her arm and pulling her into the car. The entire ride, Lydia felt like she was on pins and needles.
Scarlett chatted with her the whole time, but Lydia stayed silent
When they arrived at the hotel’s private room, the elders were already there.
Lydia greeted politely, “Hello, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Williams, and Mrs. Williams.
David Jones and Hank Williams nodded slowly
Lily reached out and pulled Lydia to sit beside her, smiling warmly as she looked at Scarlett. “Scarlett, you must be tired. Please sit down and eat.
The group at the table looked happy, except for John and Lydia who seemed off.
The food arrived quickly, and Scarlett, with a joyful expression, served Lydia some dishes. “Lydia, cat more. You’ve lost weight since getting married.”
Someone, ever curious, asked, “Has Lydia gotten married? Why the sudden change? There was no wedding?”
When Lily was asked about this, she felt awkward. Lily sneaked a glance at Lydia, quickly explaining, “She wasn’t listening! rushing to get married, and didn’t even have a wedding.”
Amanda Williams, intrigued, asked, “Which family is her husband the heir to?”
Lily’s face darkened further.
Scarlett quickly intervened. “Mrs. Williams, Lydia’s husband is an intern at Sunshine Hospital. Although he’s an intern, he’ll eventually be made permanent.
“Ing a doctor is a noble profession, right, Damon?”
Damon, without lifting his head, continued eating, showing no expression except for a slight nod.
Amanda’s eyes flashed with a hint of disdain, and she said coldly, An intern? But it’s fine, as long as Lydia is happy. It’s a bit of a shame about the past, though, since Lydia and Damon were always together. “Now, both of them have found their beloved one. It’s a happy thing
Although Amanda had never opposed Damon and Lydia being together, now that Damon had found someone better, Amanda naturally supported it.
Scarlett spoke sofily, “I really value my friendship with Lydia. I hope she can forget her past unhappiness, and we can be friends again. As for this meal, the first purpose is to offer our sincere apologies to Lydia, and the second is…

She shyly glanced at everyone before continuing, “The second reason is because I’m pregnant. So, Damon has decided to give me an engagement ceremony, and I hope Lydia can come and join us…”
Lydia instinctively declined. “I don’t have time.
Scarlett’s smile faltered awkwardly, her eyes dropping slightly.
Amanda, seeing Scarlett’s discomfort, hurriedly spoke up “Lydia, how can you be so cold? Scarlett is actually a kind–hearted girl. She called you as soon as she got out of the hospital, genuinely inviting you.
Don’t be petty about it. I hope you and Scarlett can still be good friends. Speaking of which, you’re already married, and Damon is just now getting engaged. It’s you who cheated before Damon did, right?
Lydia’s face turned slightly pale, her grip tightening around the spoon.
John, concerned for Lydia, furrowed his brow. “How can you speak so harshly
Amanda, slightly embarrassed, but still arrogant, replied, “John, I didn’t say anything out of line. Why are you so quick- tempered?”
Although the three families had always had a good relationship, the Everett Family was the weakest, so the Jones family had always held themselves above the others.
Lily quickly stepped in to defuse the situation. John is actually just upset with Lydia. We’ve all been criticizing her for not staying with Damon as expected.”
Dávid, who had never spoken, shot John a glance like a cunning fox.
David spoke up. “It’s not worth it. I hope this trivial matter doesn’t affect the relationship between our families. After all, our three families have intertwined interests.”
It was both persuasion and a warning,
