Chapter 20
Damon walked up to her, his eyes landing on Scarlett’s pitiful expression and the ten clear fingerprints on her face. The marks stood out sharply against her slightly pale cheeks..
A hint of disgust flashed in Damon’s eyes. I was really blind before, thinking Lydia was kind and pure.”
The pain of being deceived surged through his heart. Instinctively, Damon pulled Scarlett into his arms and shoved Lydia away with force.
Lydia stumbled back a few steps and crashed into the wall behind her.
She inhaled sharply in fury, and as she moved forward, ready to strike back, she muttered, “You bastard.” But before she could land the blow, Damon grabbed her arm, freezing it in midair.
His voice, low and dripping with anger and contempt, broke through. “Lydia, can you be any more shameless? Don’t you feel guilty? How dare you hit Scarlett? How dare you!”
His fingers tightened, and Lydia sucked in a breath as her wrist quickly turned red..
She kicked Damon with all her strength. Damon moved just in time to release her arm.
Thrown off balance by the momentum, Lydia didn’t crash into the wall this time. Instead, she collided with someone.
Henry steadied her. The moment Lydia saw him, a sense of safety washed over her.
She quickly turned around and instinctively wrapped her arms around Henry
What’s going on? Henry asked.
Lydia yanked at his sleeve, her voice full of frustration. “Scarlett is such a hypocrite. She suddenly slapped herself twice and then accused me. And he, a totally blind fool, believed her completely and then hit me.”
Henry’s gaze sharpened as he noticed the redness on her wrist.
Placing a hand on her shoulder, he lifted his eyes, and a powerful, almost tangible aura began to spread across the room, enveloping the four of them.
Scarlett and Damon both appeared unsure of how to respond.
Scarlett stopped sniffing, her eyes locked on the two of them, her heart full of hatred. ‘I can’t stand him anymore. Why does a poor doctor’s stare have to be so terrifying?” she thought.
Henry spoke succinctly, his tone icy. “Hit back.”
The recent experience in the mall had left Lydia with no hesitation to fight back.
A sharp slap echoed through the air, and only then did Damon snap out of the chilling atmosphere that had surrounded
them.
Frustration filled him, and though he wanted to strike back, looking at the familiar face in front of him, he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
Keep your girlfriend in check, Henry said flatly, tossing the words over his shoulder as he led Lydia away.

Chapter 20
As Lydia followed Henry, the suffocating feelings of frustration slowly began to dissipate.
Suddenly, she felt Henry was so dependable, giving her a sense of security she hadn’t realized she needed.
Lydia reached for the check, and Henry told her he’d already paid. She smiled at him.
The two of them stepped out of the restaurant and onto the stairs outside.
Lydia took a deep breath, raising her slightly numb hand and recalling the sense of happiness she felt from that satisfying slap earlier. It only added to her sense of contentment.
The neon lights flickered brightly in the distance, casting a colorful glow over the street.
Lydia’s interest was piqued. “Henry, how about we take a walk in the plaza over there?”
Henry furrowed his brows, seeming reluctant. Lydia simply took his hand and headed toward the plaza.
The square was bustling with activity at night, with vendors selling all kinds of goods, children practicing Latin dance, street performers putting on shows, and couples strolling hand in hand.
The streetlights cast long shadows, and Henry’s figure seemed to stretch with the light, his presence standing out even in silhouette.
Lydia suddenly had an idea. She turned her head, gave him a playful wink, and smiled. “Henry, how about we play a game? Let’s imitate love. What do you think?”
Henry’s deep gaze moved past a small tree, following her line of sight to a couple holding hands, their fingers intertwined
He glanced at her bright, carefree smile, a ripple of emotions stirring in his mind. Without speaking, he reached out, took her hand in his, and then opened his hand so that their fingers locked tightly together, each one perfectly following the
other.
Henry’s palm’s warmth suddenly transferred to Lydia’s hand, then slowly spread to her heart, making it feel a little warmer, Lydia smiled, her brows curving like the bright moon overhead
With a playful glint in her eye, Lydia tightened her fingers, applying a little pressure at her fingertips before gently shaking,
them.
She pointed toward the fountain not far away. “Henry, let’s go over there.”
Henry glanced at her silently, then stepped forward to follow he
As the music shifted in pitch, the water columns from the fountain rose high and low, with varying sizes of splashes, one after another.
Lydia pulled Henry closer to her.
Every now and then, a playful droplet of water splashed against their faces and bodies and landed in their hair.
Henry wasn’t fond of noisy environments. His brow furrowed sightly. Lydia, however, enjoyed it.
Water droplets clung to her hair and cheeks, a few even on her lips, but she didn’t mind.
Lydia faced the fountain and yelled out her pent–up frustration Scarlett, Damon, you two jerks! I hate you both. Don’t ever

show up in front of me again!”
Her shout was drowned out by the music, and Lydia felt an undeniable release as she vented.
Her checks looked even more delicate under the reflection of the moonlight and the lights At the bottom of Lydia’s bright eyes, there was a clear, flowing light like a stream of fresh water However, to Henry, this was undoubtedly a foolish act
He watched Lydia shouting and venting by the fountain, comply lacking elegance or grace, yet it felt so real and raw, an almost thrilling display of emotion.
He could almost hear a stone being thrown into his heart, sending ripples across its surface.
Once Lydia had finished venting, she turned to Henry, flashing silly grin. “That was refreshing. From now on. I’m going to erase my memory and kick those two jerks out of it.”
Henry’s face was nearly drenched.
She looked at the water droplets on Henry’s nose and, on impulse, tiptoed to gently wipe them away. Her breath, soft and sweet, lingered near his face.
In that instant, a surge of emotion took over his usual rationality Henry grabbed her hand, held her head gently, and kissed her lips with commanding passion.
After the kiss, everything seemed to spiral out of control,
Lydia froze completely, unsure of what had even happened until she found herself back in the car. It wasn’t until the car started that she slowly began to realize what had just occurred.
A layer of bashfulness clouded Lydia’s cheeks. Her lips were slightly damp, and she looked incredibly cute
She shyly avoided looking at Henry, but he couldn’t stop staring at her.
At that moment, Lydia’s phone rang. It was a call from her father, John
John had heard about the incident last night and was calling to check if Lydia was okay
Lydia reassured him, then hung up after comforting him.
She let out a small sigh, thinking about Helen’s mischief and what happened the night before when she’d been drugged. feeling a bit helpless.
Sitting beside her, Henry, almost as if reading her thoughts, spoke in a hoarse voice. The blackout was caused by Helen, but she wasn’t the one who drugged you.”
Lydia paused for a moment. “It wasn’t her? Then who was it?” She remembered that at the time, only Helen and Grace had been closest to her. ‘If it wasn’t Helen or Grace… she wondered.
Samuel. When Henry said the name so calmly, Lydia nearly choked on her own saliva
Was it him? How could it have been him? Lydia asked, her voice full of disbelief.
It was him. Henry had always been so sharp. Samuel paused for moment when he spoke to Henry this morning. From that brief hesitation, Henry had immediately known it was Samuel who had drugged Lydia
Lydia suddenly pointed at Henry, then at herself, realizing something, “Is Samuel out of his mind?” she exclaimed in shock.
