Chapter 22
Henry had no trouble imagining Lydia’s delicate face, even picturing the expression and movements she would make as she spoke this time.
A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “Okay”
Damon, having overheard their conversation, suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest. The images from his memories shattered like glass under a hammer.
Henry hung up the phone and started walking away, completely ignoring Damon.
A surge of jealousy hit Damon, jealous that Henry had just received a call from Lydia. His eyes flashed with a hint of anger. “Hold on
His brows furrowed, his sharp, chiseled features revealing no unnecessary emotion.
Henry had not intended to acknowledge Damon, but Damon quickly stepped in front of him, locking eyes with him, his gaze burning crimson.
He began. “Mr. Brooks, right? Do you care about her now? I know you want to flaunt that you married a rich girl.”
She’s cure.
very pretty
pretty, isn’t she? Damon said coldly, his eyes ice–cold.
As Damon continued, his tone gradually shifted, becoming more venomous. “But you might not know… your lovely wife is a bitch.
Henry’s stern features remained impassive, and his eyes darkened with frost. ‘Get lost.” Damon sneered. “Why? Did I hit a nerve? Can’t you take it? I know no man truly ignores whether his wife is pure. Mr. Brooks, why pretend to be so noble?”
Henry’s lips curled into a contemptuous smile, and he pushed Damon aside. “Get lost.
Damon’s smile grew colder. “Mr. Brooks, seems like you really want to climb the social ladder like Scarlett said. Lydia told you she’s a virgin, and you really believed her?
You pretend not to care, don’t you? As a man, I truly look down on you.
Henry’s
‘s eyes suddenly grew colder, and the air around him seemed to freeze with a deadly chill. His slender fingers jabbed forcefully into Damon’s chest. “As a man, I mock fools like you.”
Damon’s brows knitted tightly as he took a step back. “What do you mean?”
Henry’s smirk deepened, radiating sheer dominance. Henry nonchalantly wiped his fingers on a tissue by the sink, wrinkling. his nose in disgust as he coldly muttered, “It’s the truth.”
After taking a couple of steps, he said, his voice calm, “I’m a doctor. I only believe in the facts.
Damon was stunned by Henry’s overwhelming presence, surprised by his words.
Henry was a doctor, so he made his own judgments. He believed in facts.
Does he mean Lydia really is a virgin, pure and innocent? He’s not pretending not to care? He truly believes Lydia is a virgin? Is Lydia really a virgin?’ Damon thought.

Chapter 22
As this thought flashed through his mind, a suffocating pain seized his chest. Is Scarlett lying to me? Is she the one who deceived me? Damon wondered
Lately. Scarlett’s pregnancy had been unstable, her complexion looking worse by the day. She seemed overly worried about the baby’s condition.
Whenever Scarlett felt unwell, she’d insist that Damon take her up the hospital for an examination. But Damon had seemed busy with work these days.
Scarlett called him three times, and his secretary answered every time, saying he was in a meeting. She specifically told his secretary to have him/call her back.
Yet, Scarlett never received a call from Damon, no matter how long she waited. Despite being frustrated and anxious, she dared not take her anger out on him
In the end, Scarlett had no choice but to call Lily and ask her to go to the hospital with her.
After receiving the call. Lily quickly canceled her appointment with the other ladies at the beauty salon
On the way to the hospital, they passed Rhett Avenue, right in front of Lydia’s company.
Scarlett suddenly told the driver to slow down As she got a clearer view of the Bentley parked in front of Lydia’s office. Damon’s recently updated model. her face turned ashen.
The secretary said Damon had been busy… Ugh. he’s busy waiting for Lydia to finish work. isn’t he? Scarlett thought. Scarlett had his secretary tell him that she wasn’t feeling well and sent Damon WhatsApp messages personally. Yet, he ignored her completely. Scarlett couldn’t shake the suspicion that Damon was trying to rekindle something with Lydia Lily followed her gaze and saw the car, her anxiety rising. “Is that Damon’s car? Why would he be in front of Lydia’s office? Didn’t you say he was busy?” Lily asked.
Seeing the cold look on Scarlett’s face, Lily quickly fell silent, realizing she couldn’t risk pushing her emotions any further
Scarlett’s anger boiled over. “Ugh! It must be your daughter trying to seduce Damon. I knew she wouldn’t let such an excellent man slip away.
Scarlett clenched her fists, so furious that her teeth nearly ground together.
Lily rushed to comfort her. “Calm down, okay? You’re pregnant. Lydia wouldn’t dare.”
Scarlett shot Lily an irritated look. “I don’t care. I won’t let her get away with it.”
The sudden surge of anger seemed to have triggered a flare–up in her stomach, and Scarlett immediately took deep breaths
to calm herself down.
Lily kept reassuring her. “Alright, alright. She won’t win. I won’t let her succeed. John won’t support her in trying to steal Damon away. Don’t worry.”
But Scarlett felt like her heart was hanging in mid–air. Her eyes were filled with jealousy and resentment, and her fists were clenched tight.

Chapter 22
On a Saturday afternoon, Lydia was still asleep when there was a loud knock at the door.
She opened her sleepy eyes, instinctively reaching out beside her and muttering, “Henry, open the door. You wore me out last night. Open the door. You go.”
After murmuring, she realized the space beside her was empty. She remembered that Henry had to work at the hospital this weekend
Lydia sighed, thinking about how frighteningly quickly she had grown accustomed to the sweet life of living together with
him.
The knocking at the door brought her back to reality.
She rubbed her temples, still not fully awake. Lydia propped herself up and stood, her movements still a little stiff.
She thought it was probably a salesperson. Although the community had strict access control, occasionally, there were sharp salespeople who managed to get in
Lydia respected every job, and she always treated salespeople kindly. When she opened the door, she smiled, ready to greet them
In stark contrast to her calm demeanor, Scarlet’s face was very pale, looking downright frightening. Lily was with her.
Lydia instantly sobered up. feeling helpless and exhausted. Lily had a spare key to her apartment.
When Lydia bought the house, she had gladly given her family spare key, always welcoming her parents to visit whenever they wanted.
As Scarlett walked up to her, she threw a bouquet of roses straight at Lydia’s face. “Bitch, die!”
Lydia stood frozen for about two seconds, then quickly bent down to pick up the scattered roses, throwing them back at
Scarlett.
Scarlett, are you out of your mind? Who the hell pissed you off: Lydia demanded.
Scarlett snapped, instinctively seeking refuge behind Lily Lily, in turn, instinctively shielded her, shouting at Lydia. “Lydia. stop! Scarlett’s pregnant! If you hurt her baby, Damon won’t let you off the hook!”
