Chapter 23
Lydia let out a cold laugh tinged with sadness. Every time she saw Lily lately, her heart grew colder.
Before, Lydia had been so anxious that she hadn’t noticed how Lily’s bias toward Scarlett had reached the point of mental instability.
Seeing Scarlett in her current frantic state, Lydia raised an eyebrow and guessed. “What’s going on? Is Damon seeing someone else? Are you here to try to drag her out? “Have you lost your mind? You can’t control your boyfriend, and now you’re causing trouble here? Get out. Leave.
Scarlett took a deep breath, trying to contain her fury.
Lydia, you’re shameless. Are you still pretending to be innocent? Aren’t you the one who’s been flirting with that doctor lately? You slut, now you’re trying to seduce Damon again. Why don’t you just die? Scarlett spat out..
Lydia was stunned, then immediately laughed. “Scarlett, someone with your imagination should consider becoming a screenwriter. You–fake woman, bitch… that’s exactly what you are
Your boyfriend’s got another woman, and you’re here bothering me? I’ll warn you. What Damon does is his business. Don’t involve me. I don’t want to deal with your drama right now.
Scarlett’s body trembled, and she pointed to a card on the floor “Still denying it? Lydia, look at this. This rose, from Damon’s secretary. Happy birthday. Take a good look.”
A strange tightness settled in Lydia’s chest as she realized today was her birthday. Her eyes instinctively shifted toward Lily, but Lily avoided her gaze.
Lydia gave a bitter smile. She had never had a proper birthday celebration growing up. Her mother never celebrated it for
her.
Every year, on Lydia’s birthday, Lily always seemed to be in a bad mood. Only John would secretly give Lydia a gift, but it was always just a gift, never an actual birthday celebration.
Seeing Lydia’s silence, Scarlett grew even bolder. “Lydia, so you’re finally admitting it? How petty are you? Well, listen up. Im pregnant. Damon’s going to be a dad. We’re getting married soon. Why are you still hanging on to him?”
Obsessive, Lydia said suddenly. In the tension of the moment, she couldn’t help but think of Henry. If he were here, he would cut her down with simple words.
Scarlett was furious, shouting. “Lydia, remember this. No matter what you do, Damon will never look at you again. In his eyes, you’re just some slut who sleeps around.”
Lily didn’t have time to stop her, and Scarlett shouted out loud.
Lydia furrowed her brow slightly, recalling the look of vengeful satisfaction in Damon’s eyes the day he had cheated, and the constant insults he had hurled at her about being shameless. Suddenly, she realized something
Lydia took two steps back and sneered. “Scarlett, you’re clear on the whole sleeping around thing, aren’t you? You know you’ve had a child yourself, right? “Of course, Damon wouldn’t think of me that way. Are you framing me? What methods are you using to slander and defame me?”
Scarlett burst into maniacal laughter, her eyes filled with pride as she almost shouted. “You don’t need to care what methods I used. What matters is that he believes it “Damon’s convinced you’re a bitch, so don’t even try to rekindle anything with him. And don’t call him anymore for no reason

Chapter 23
Lately, whenever Scarlett and Damon were together, a strange number would call him. When he picked it up, his eyes would. always light up.
Scarlett was sure those calls were from Lydia, trying to lure Damon back in.
Lydia’s heart filled with sorrow as thick as fog, and her clear eyes trembled. She didn’t respond immediately, and as her gaze. shifted to the person standing behind Scarlett, a cold laugh escaped her.
Scarlett was about to say more to provoke Lydia, but she was now keenly aware of the cold eyes staring at her from behind.
Lydia turned around, her legs weakening in sudden fear. ‘Damon, what are you doing here?”
Scarlett’s heart sank like a stone. Her legs felt like jelly, and she almost collapsed to the ground. Lily caught her just in time.
Damon stood frozen, his entire body tense, the coldness around him spreading like a palpable chill.
His deep eyes locked onto Scarlett, disgust curling in his chest. This familiar face now looked repulsive to him.
Scarlett’s face turned pale, and she murmured. “Damon… Why are you here? Don’t look at me like that. I was just upset, and I didn’t hold back…
Damon took a long moment to regain his composure.
He knew he couldn’t believe this two–faced woman. Scarlett always presented herself as kind and graceful in front of him, but in reality, she was secretly manipulative and venomous.
Damon had arrived early and overheard the entire conversation between Scarlett and Lydia. He was stunned
He couldn’t believe that the gentle, demure woman who always spoke so softly to him could turn into a vicious, biting tiger when he wasn’t looking.
As the shock set in, a wave of guilt overwhelmed him, as powerful as the ocean’s tides. He was certain he had wronged Lydia.
Damon had destroyed their pure relationship with his own hands, ruining Lydia’s love for him. His heart ached as if it were impossible to breathe.
Lydia, observing Scarlett’s terrified and pale expression, realized that this scheming woman had used some trick to make Damon misunderstand her.
Lydia never imagined the truth would be like this, but she would rather have remained ignorant. Now that she knew the truth, she felt even more sorrowful.
She had once believed she was unbreakable, that Damon would always love her, But now, because of Scarlett’s manipulations, she was cast aside. That could only mean that Damon didn’t trust her enough, that he didn’t love her enough.
Scarlett was crying uncontrollably, completely losing her composure in her fear. She reached out to Damon, but he pushed
her away.
Scarlett could only turn to Lily and cry out. “Mrs. Everett, please help me explain to Damon. You have to explain…”
Lily’s face darkened. Lily opened her mouth, but she couldn’t speak a word when she saw Damon’s eyes, eyes that seemed ready to kill.
That thing I overheard in the hospital corridor… you said it on purpose, didn’t you? Damon’s voice was tinged with a sense of despair, even though it was phrased as a question.

Chapter 23
Scarlett wiped her tears and shook her head. “No, we were telling the truth…”
It was clear Scarlett had committed a grave sin, one that couldn’t be undone. This was the first time she had seen Damon’s eyes filled with so much murderous intent.
Lydia was utterly confused when she heard this. She glanced at Scarlett, then at Lily, realizing that Damon was staring at both of them with such a killing gaze.
The question just now had been directed at both of them, which made Lydia’s heart tighten, her confusion growing. She looked at her mother, her voice trembling. “Does this have something to do with you? What did you do?”
Lily glared at her. “Shut up. I didn’t do anything”
Damon sneered, his gaze at Lydia full of guilt, as though he was mocking himself. I’m the biggest fool in the world. Lydia. do you remember?
Over six months ago, you were hospitalized for a stomach illness You kept it from me, but I found out from Scarlett. I canceled all my work in Meriadin and rushed back to take care of you._x000D.
In the hospital corridor, I overheard your mother and Scarlett whispering. They said you had an abortion, that you couldn’t handle the loneliness, and ended up hooking up with some guy off–campus, only to be abandoned.
They even said it was your second abortion, and your mother was worried you wouldn’t be able to have children in the future. She’d arrange for a doctor. You’d already had this surgery once…
