Chapter 24
Lydia’s back trembled as she stared in shock and sorrow at Lily. Mom, you slandered me? You’re my mother… How could you do this?”
Her fingers rested on the porch wall, and she shook her head, looking at Damon. “So, do you believe them? Do you believe what they’ve said? I was so naive.
Now, I finally understand why your attitude toward me turned cold after I was hospitalized. I thought you were just really busy with work… Lydia said, her voice heavy with disbelief.
Damon was eager to argue. “That’s not true! I didn’t want to believe it at first. But Lily is your mother…I went and asked your doctor. He was paid off. What he said matched exactly what your mom told me. I couldn’t accept it. I nearly lost it…
Lydia laughed bitterly. “Damon, the doctor could have been bought by you or by someone else. You’re so dumb. You never even bothered to ask me. You didn’t ask. You just believed them. You trust everyone but me. How pathetic.”
Damon’s back shook with anxiety. Lydia, that’s not true…
Scarlett rushed forward, grabbing hold of Damon as he started to lose control. “Forget her… We’re engaged. No matter what, we’re together. Our baby is about to be born. You can’t take Lydia back…”
Lydia suddenly couldn’t bear facing them anymore. She was drained, exhausted. She pointed toward the door, her voice cold. “Leavel Now!”
Damon’s eyes were pained. “Lydia…
Scarlett tugged on him. “Let’s go. We’re going home…”
Damon suddenly shoved her. “Don’t touch me. Get away He pushed too hard, and Scarlett stumbled backward, crashing into the shoe rack.
Scarlett screamed as she fell to the floor, clutching her stomach, Damon, my stomach hurts…”
Damon didn’t even spare her a glance. His heavy gaze remained fixed on Lydia.
Lily, panicking, rushed to help Scarlett up. “Damon, you can’t treat Scarlett like this. She’s pregnant. You’re going to hurt your child..
Before Lily could finish her sentence, Scarlett clutched her stomach, her white dress stained with blood. She shook her head. in terror, “My baby, my baby can’t be hurt…”
Lily gasped in shock. “How is she bleeding? Why is this happening?”
Scarlett grabbed Lily’s arm, crying out. “Take me to the hospital Damon, save our baby.
Lydia saw the blood on Scarlett’s dress, her heart frozen in shock No matter how despicable Scarlett was, the child in her belly was still innocent.
Damon finally turned to look at Scarlett. His eyes trembled slightly, but he didn’t make any move to act.
Lydia’s patience snapped. “Damon, what are you doing? Hurry up and take her to the hospital. The baby’s innocent!”
Damon bent down and picked up Scarlett. She clutched his sleeve, pleading. “Please, Damon, save our baby…”

Before they left for the hospital. Lily sternly told Lydia. “You’re coming with us. We need to keep Damon calm. Scarlett and I can’t drive. You have to drive us to the hospital”
Lydia was practically dragged out without even having time to lock the door.
Scarlett had already lost consciousness on the way. The blood on her dress was growing more disturbing. After receiving the news. their parents rushed to the hospital
David almost arrived at the same time as Hank and Amanda.
At the emergency room door. Damon stood motionless like a sue. Lydia stood just outside the door, a limle far away from them. She wanted to turn and leave, but the baby was innocent, aftera!..
The blood on Scarlett’s dress made Lydia feel uneasy like something was terribly wrong
David stood at the door, briefy asking Lily about the situation. Then, another pair of cold eyes turned toward Lydia.

Why are you still tangled up with Damont Marrying a doctor was your choice. You can’t hurt the baby in her stomach just because you’re jealous.
Amanda had heard some things from Lily and had come to the conclusion that Lydia was trying to seduce Dumon
Lydia was stunned by the slap, and it took a few seconds for nero recover.
Her delicate cheek immediately showed the clear imprint of tive fingers, and crimson blood trickled from the corner of he mouth. She took a deep breath, wiped the blood away, and said word by word. “Mrs. Williams, let me clarity.
This has nothing to do with me. Whether or not I tried to sedut Damon, he should know better than anyone. I respect you as an elder, so I’ll let this slide once, but there won’t be a second time.
Seeing Lydia still trying to argue, Amanda’s anger flared. She red her hand to slap Lydia again, and this time, Damon suddenly rushed forward and stood in front of Lydia
The slap landed hard on Damon’s face, and the air around them grew thick with tension.
Amanda’s voice trembled with concern. ‘Damon, have you lost your mind? Why are you protecting her?”

Chapter 24
Π
Damon himself was stunned, realizing he had spoken without thinking. Once the words were out, Damon knew deep down that he hadn’t been able to let go of Lydia all month.
Even after hearing what Scarlett had said, Damon still found himself thinking about Lydia.
On several occasions, he’d sneaked out in the middle of the night to drive to Lydia’s building.
When the security gate was/locked and he couldn’t get in, Damon would just watch the large windows of her 16th–floor apartment from the street outside.
Today, Damon had actually planned it. He suspected Scarlett was the one at fault, so he intentionally excluded her and made sure his secretary revealed the flowers he had sent to Lydia.
He had even disguised himself to sneak into the neighborhood, all to uncover the truth. That’s why he was so disappointed
in Scarlett.
David, who had been worried about his daughter, heard these words and his eyes immediately reddened. He looked up, his expression pained.
Amanda quickly tried to smooth things over. “Damon, are you out of your mind? What are you talking about?”
Damon looked directly at Lydia. I’m not just talking nonsense.”
David’s anger boiled over. “Damon, that’s enough. My daughter is lying inside, her life hanging in the balance, and you’re saying this?”
Damon’s face remained grim, and he didn’t answer.
