Chapter 4
At that moment, a luxury car pulled up in front of the villa.
Scarlett, wearing a light blue dress, stepped out and deliberately parked her car next to the taxi by the entrance.
She got out, furrowing her brow slightly, a hint of disdain flashing in her eyes. But she was instantly struck by the powerful. cold aura of the man as she walked by him.
Scarlett smiled as she walked into the villa. “Good morning, Mrs. Everett, Lydia.”
Lydia wanted to kick Scarlett out, but she knew that in this family, it was Lily who called the shots.
Lydia sighed quietly. The more she saw Scarlett, the more she felt like a stranger to her..
Last night, Scarlett had deliberately shown guilt and sadness in front of Damon. Now that Damon wasn’t here, she was continuing her act.
Though Lily blushed from anger, when she saw Scarlett, she made an effort to put on a smile. “Did you have breakfast? If not, I’ll have the butler prepare something for you”
Lydia’s brow twitched. She really didn’t understand how her own mother could be so kind to an outsider, yet so harsh toward her own daughter
Scarlett replied softly, “No, thanks. I’ve already eaten. Mrs. Jones. I came here to wish Lydia well. Last night, I talked with Dámon for a long time after I got home. “I’ve thought it over. No matter who Lydia is going to marry, as long as she’s happy, that’s all that matters. So I’m here to congratulate her.”
After she returned home last night, Scarlett became more and more
intense.
She almost hoped Lydia would marry someone who collected trash. Only such a huge contrast would show how Scarlett was superior to Lydia and how much better Damon was.
Scarlett stepped forward, extending her hand, trying to take Lydia’s. For the first time, Lydia pulled her hand back.
She couldn’t even be bothered to speak to Scarlett and shot her look, silently warning her to stay away.
Scarlett purposely leaned closer. Lydia glanced at her and immediately noticed the passionate hickeys on Scarlett’s neck, the sight making her heart lurch.
It felt like countless tiny needles were stabbing at her heart, the pain sharp and overwhelming.
But Scarlett didn’t feel awkward at all. Instead, she smiled proudly and said, “Are you still angry about last night? Don’t be. Now that you’ve found the right person, isn’t that the best outcome?
I hope we can still be good friends in the future. I came here early this morning just to bless you.
She added. “Here, I even brought you a gift. By the way, when is the wedding? You must invite me and Damon. We can’t rest easy until we see you happily married.”
Lydia’s eyes felt dizzy as she stared at the gift box gently swaying in Scarlett’s hands.
Lily could no longer keep quiet. “What kind of happiness can you expect from marrying that poor doctor?”

Chapter 4
Scarlett giggled and turned, patting Lily’s hand comfortingly. “Mrs. Everett, take it easy. Young people today always want to live according to their own ideas. There are many examples of this.”
Scarlett’s words were clearly meant to soothe, but they carried an underlying provocation.
Lily’s face darkened even further, but before she could say anything offensive, she was stunned by the cold glare coming from beside her. Instinctively, she closed her mouth.
Henry, having finished his/cigarette, walked over, the light shifting with his steps. His resolute, cold, handsome face was like a masterpiece sculpted by the gods.
His gaze briefly passed over Scarlett and Lily, landing on Lydia’s somewhat pale face. Slowly, he reached out, his large hand
open.
His voice, though quiet, carried an air of authority. “Let’s go. Were going to get the marriage license.”
A surge of impulsiveness filled Lydia’s chest. She stretched out her hand, placing it in his palm, and followed his steps out the door.
She didn’t believe that an impulsive life had to be incomplete. Se, she decided to indulge herself just this once.
Upon seeing Lydia follow behind him, Lily’s fate changed dramatically, even twisting with a hint of anger. But in the face of such overwhelming authority, she didn’t know what to do.
Scarley, on the other hand, smirked inwardly, thinking, “Marrying a poor doctor? Do you even know him? Let’s see how happy you are in the future.”
Outside the city hall, Lydia looked at the marriage license in her hand, then suddenly turned to the man beside her and asked, ‘Can I bite you?”
The man was about five inches taller than her, and she had to stand on her tiptoes to meet his gaze.
The sunlight bathed him, and the surrounding air seemed to glow with freshness. It was as if he was taking a morning stroll/ in a garden, with dewdrops sparkling on the flowers and grass, filled with a refreshing atmosphere.
Henry only slightly tilted his head, furrowing his brows, and gave her a brief look. Lydia blinked, waiting for his response.
She really wanted to bite him, just to prove that she wasn’t dreaming.
Henry saw right through her thoughts and replied coolly. “It’s not a dream. We’re legally married.”
Lydia scratched her head, standing on the steps outside the city hall, holding the marriage license in her hand. Only then did it hit her. She had really gone too far.
‘Flash marriage? I really did a flash marriage. Was I too impulsive? Lydia thought. The marriage happened so fast that it almost felt like a dream.
Lydia swallowed nervously. She lightly tugged at his suit “Henry how about we go back inside and get a divorce? You wouldn’t mind, would you?”
With a flash marriage and flash divorce, life really was full of variety.
Henry narrowed his eyes, a cold glint flashing in them. He looked down at her delicate hand, pausing for a moment, then spoke in a cold tone. “Naive!”
lydia’s heart jolted in the dim light, and she quickly released her grip on his suit. She took a deep breath and said, “Yeah,

flash marriage is pretty childish.”
Henry checked his wristwatch, clearly uninterested in wasting any more time with her. I’ll take you home.”
Where to? Lydia asked.
Instinctively, Lydia started to imagine in her head, ‘Home? To which home? I’m married now. Even though it was impulsive, the marriage license is real.
She couldn’t go back to the Everett mansion. As a newlywed, she naturally had to stay with her husband. And the thought that Scarlett might still be at home, waiting to watch her fail, made Lydia want to escape.
“We must be going to the new home then, Lydia thought..
As Lily had said, Henry was just an intern at Sunshine Hospital, and with the skyrocketing housing prices in Valemont, it didn’t seem easy for him to buy a place.
Henry’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, looking a bit awkward.
Lydia quickly asked tentatively. “Where do you live?”
His eyebrows furrowed even more, and his eyes became even more complex
Lydia guessed that he hadn’t bought a house yet and asked softly, “Do you rent?”
Henry replied coldly, I don’t rent.”
Lydia immediately understood. To reduce expenses. Henry must be living in the hospital dorms.
But not wanting to hurt his pride by bringing up the fact that he couldn’t afford a house, she decided not to ask further.
Reaching into her bag, she pulled out the key to her home and took his hand, placing the key in it.
She began. “This is the key to my place. My address is Room 1603, Unit 1, Building 8, Eastwood Gardens. Oh, and the blue one is the elevator key card.”
Lydia was independent enough. She had saved up and made a down payment on an apartment.
Henry looked at the key in his hand, a bit surprised.
The soft sunlight reflected on Lydia’s cheek, and her face turned slightly red. Henry could clearly sense her emotions.
Her large eyes seemed to be saying something, and she just quicly watched him.
Before Henry could speak, Lydia explained, “I saved up to buy this apartment. It’s not very big, but it’s enough for the two of
- us.
