Chapter 6
The food was quickly reheated and neatly arranged on the table. The aroma of the dishes lingered in the air.
Lydia waved her hand as she sat at the dinner table, “Henry, come eat dinner.”
Henry furrowed his brow slightly but didn’t move. Lydia stood up, reached for his arm, and gently pulled him to the table.
She bent down and smiled. “Mr. Brooks, don’t be so cold. We’re harried now, and legally we’re a family. Let’s eat together. “This is our first meal after marriage. I hope we can enjoy it. Do you think? I made all these dishes myself. Give them at
try.
Lydia picked up some food with her fork and put it on his plate, Henry frowned in disgust.
Lydia immediately realized what he meant and quickly shook the fork, explaining. This one I haven’t used.”
Henry wasn’t used to eating so late, but for some reason, today, the aroma of the food made him feel a bit hungry.
Lydia watched Henry eat with grace, smiling as she lowered her head to eat her own food. After the meal. Henry remained silent, and Lydia didn’t say anything either.
Lydia had originally expected the meal to be awkward, but in fact, Henry had gracefully kept his gaze lowered, chewing his food without even looking at her, which avoided any awkwardness.
For the first time, she thought that maybe Henry’s coldness was so bad after all, After finishing, she blinked her eyes and looked at Henry.
Great, you go take a shower first. Afterward, I have something to tell you, Lydia said.
Henry took out a napkin and elegantly wiped the corner of his mouth. “Go ahead.”
Just go shower first. Lydia insisted.
Lydia had googled up information about doctors earlier, and she had gained a general understanding being a doctor was tough
The fact that he was home so late meant he might have just finished a major surgery.
I’ve already showered, Henry said, his tone indifferent.
Lydia was shocked. ‘Is he always this concise?’ she thought to herself,
Okay, wait for me then. I’ll go grab the agreement, Lydia said.
Henry had worked from the afternoon until midnight, and during that time, Lydia had prepared the flash marriage agreement.
Henry gave it a casual glance, his expression complex, his lips tightly pressed together.
Lydia awkwardly chuckled twice, then opened the printed agreement and pushed it toward him. “Mr. Brooks, you can review the agreement. If you have no objections, just sign it.”
She had started drafting the agreement the moment she returned home. Since it was a flash marriage, it had to come with a flash marriage arrangement,

Henry seemed unmoved by it, remaining as indifferent as ever.
Lydia blinked, trying to adjust to this cold man’s way of interacting.
Mr Brooks, if you don’t want to browse it, I can read it to you, or explain it to you point by point. Lydia offered.
Seeing that Henry didn’t object, Lydia took it as a tacit agreement.
She began seriously. “First, no intimate acts against the other’s will in the marriage. And I mean all kinds of intimate acts.
Noticing Henry’s eyebrows twitching slightly, she hurried to explain, “Since we don’t know each other well yet, we should be careful, right?”
Lydia thought she saw a flash of disdain in Henry’s eyes, and she broke into a sweat. She quickly moved on to the second point. “Although this is a flash marriage, I hope we can start off as ordinary friends and get along friendly. So, it’s better not to appear too much in each other’s spaces.”
This point was specifically for him, but Henry didn’t say anything. Lydia felt a bit down.
She continued, “Third, neither of us should leave our personal belongings in the other’s sight like underwear and such. I won’t go into details, and there are notes later on. If you want to know more, you can read it yourself.”
Fourth, don’t interfere with each other’s friendships… said Lydia
She smiled. “Lastly, since this is a small apartment with only one bedroom, one of us will have to sleep on the couch. Although I’m a woman, I want to be fair. “So, I’ve decided that we’ll take turns sleeping on the couch. I’ll sleep on the couch tonight…
Before Lydia could finish speaking. Henry stood up and walked straight to the bedroom.
A moment later, the steady sound of breathing could be heard from the bedroom.
Lydia was stunned, thinking to herself, I explained all that, and he only cares about the last point? So all that talk was for nothing?
She took a deep breath, wondering. ‘Well, looks like I’ll be sleeping on the couch tonight.
Lydia tossed and turned on the couch for a long time before finally falling into a heavy sleep.
When she woke up, she found herself curled up on the living room floor.
As soon as Lydia opened her blurry eyes, she felt a cold gaze directed at her. She rubbed her arm.
Looking up, she saw Henry, dressed, staring at her. She met his gaze, and he quickly looked away, his face expressionless. Before she could say anything. Henry put on his shoes and left.
Lydia sighed. Looks like the warm scene of a man tucking a woman in at night only happens in romantic movies, she
wondered.
After Henry left, Lydia was left alone at home. The betrayal she had felt earlier resurfaced in her mind, and her heart ached again.
Just then, the phone rang. Lydia picked it up and saw it was Scarlett. Without hesitation, she reached out to hang up the call. but Scarlett stubbornly called back.

This is really annoying- Lydja thought.
Just as she was about to hang up again, her father’s call came in. Lydia hesitated for a few seconds before answering the call. “Dad, I’m sorry…
John’s voice was hoarse but full of love. “Lydia, you must be so upset, right? I don’t blame you. Whatever choice you make, I’ll support you.”
Lydia held back the tears that were about to spill, trying to control her emotions. She had always known her dad loved her
the most.
Lydia, don’t blame your mom. She had a difficult labor when she gave birth to you, so she’s been… John’s voice cracked.
Lydia quickly interrupted him. “Dad, it’s okay. I’m very happy. You don’t need to worry about me. Is your foot feeling. better?”
John replied, “It’s much better. You haven’t been home these past few days, and your mom’s been in a bad mood. I’ll have my secretary send you some money, as a start–up fund for your new home. “When you have time, bring Mr. Brooks over so we can meet officially.”
After hanging up, Lydia immediately went to change clothes and planned to go shopping.
She walked into a store that sold furniture and was drawn to a round leather bed. Thinking about how Scarlett had slept in her bed, she decided to buy a new one. It would be a wedding gift to herself.
Just as she was about to swipe her card, she heard a voice behind her. “Lydia, is that you?”
The familiar, gentle voice made Lydia furrow her brow instinctively. She automatically shut out Scarlett’s voice and turned to walk away, ignoring her.
Scarlett and Lily had gone shopping, but they were surprised to see Lydia there buying a bed. Naturally, Scarlett didn’t want to miss the chance to mock her.
She quickly walked up to Lydia. “Lydia, what a coincidence. You’re here shopping too? Where’s your husband? They say newlyweds should be inseparable, but why are you here all by yourself?”
As she spoke, Scarlett deliberately turned her back on Lydia, leaving her behind. Her beautiful eyes were filled with mockery.
