Impulsive Chapter 9

Chapter

Henry had slipped back into his cool, distant demeanor, offering her nothing more than a brief, indifferent glance. Lydia didn’t mind at all. It seemed like she was already used to this kind of interaction

She continued, her tone light and carefree. Henry, you’re not on duty tonight, right? How about we go out for a walk? We can grab some dinner later to celebrate buying our new big bed

Before Henry could even reply, Lydia had already grabbed his hand and pulled him into the elevator, heading straight for the secondfloor supermarket

Lydia was naturally talkative, and under Henry’s imposing presence, she wasn’t intimidated in the slightest

She brought up all sorts of topics, even asking Henry what he wanted for dinner

Henry remained silent, so Lydia pressed further. Meat? Fish? Vegetables? Fruit salad? You’ve got to give me something to

aim for.”

In the crowded supermarket, Lydia chattered on behind him, her words blending into a lively soundtrack that made them stand out to the other shoppers

Finally. Henry answered, Fish”

Lydia’s face lit up with a smile, and she happily pulled him toward the fish counter

Henry wasn’t used to people being so close to him, especially not with her taking the initiative to hold his hand. Still, he simply furrowed his brow without pushing her away

After they finished shopping, she led him to the checkout line. Henry paid with his credit card, and Lydia didn’t try to fight him for it

She respected his actions and deliberately kept the purchases light, just a little over 30 dollars

Once they were out of the mall, Lydia, eager to avoid any awkwardness, pulled Henry onto a bus

As they boarded, Samuel, who had been standing at the entrance of the mall, nearly dropped his jaw at the sight of them

On the bus, it wasn’t until Henry was jostled by the crowd that he realized just how ridiculous the situation was. It was this chaury woman who had dragged him onto the bus

The bus stopped repeatedly, and with so many people crammed inside, it was inevitable that someone would bump into Henry as they swayed with the motion

Henry’s sharp, chiseled features became even colder, and his brow furrowed in irritation

Meanwhile, Lydia, standing next to him, seemed tiny in comparison. One hand clutched the shopping bag, while the other gripped the bus’s overhead rail to steady herself

The moment the driver hit the gas, Lydia couldn’t help but stumble forward

She wasn’t bothered by this, at least not until she bumped into a middleaged woman in front of her three times, finally rubbing her head and letting out an embarrassed laugh

То

ease the awkwardness, Lydia started chatting. Henry, have you ever done a jigsaw puzzle? Over Christmas, I was so bored at home that I ended up finishing this huge one…

Henry, there’s a restaurant in the southern part of town that has amazing steak. We should try it together sometime. Henry, do you work weekends, or do you get a break? she smiled

Henry found himself growing a little annoyed at how much Lydia was talking. Her soft, pink lips moved continuously, almost like she couldn’t stop

Despite the noise on the bus, her voice was calm and clear enough for him to tolerate. It wasn’t unpleasant, just constant

Lydia really was chatty. And, particularly at this moment, with her so close to him, occasionally brushing against him. It was so embarrassing that she felt almost impossible to keep silent, and she kept coming up with things to say

The middleaged woman in front of them got off at the next stop, and several passengers piled in through the front doors. Lydia ended up standing in front of a tall, slender man

When the bus lurched to a stop at a red light, Lydia couldn’t hold her balance and toppled forward. This time, however, her head collided with a strong arm

Before she even had a chance to react, Henry was already holding her tightly, pulling her into his embrace. She didn’t know when the shopping bag she had been holding ended up in his hands, and one of his arms was now wrapped protectively around her shoulder

There was something about Henry, an innate, unshakable aura of power, that couldn’t be hidden, no matter the situation. At this moment, Lydia felt an unprecedented sense of peace, her heartbeat even picking up slightly

Held in Henry’s arms, Lydia could clearly sense the envy and dislike from the young women around them, but all she could see was his neck as she didn’t raise her head. Breathing in his unique scent, she suddenly realized that her mood wasn’t as bad as she had thought

When she had been with Damon, many girls would envy her as they walked down the street. Compared to Damon, Henry was even more striking

The bus suddenly lurched, and Lydia ended up pressing straight into his chest, instinctively wrapping her free hand around? his waist

She froze for a moment, thinking to herself, “His body is amazing, not an ounce of fat

Over the next few stops, passengers got on and off, Lydia had no choice but to stay nestled against Henry’s chest. At first, she wasn’t comfortable, but after a while, she got used to it..

With all the frustrations she’d been feeling these past few days, Lydia took a deep breath and let herself lean into Henry’s embrace

At that moment, she didn’t want to think about anything. She just wanted to stay in his protective hold

A bold young woman stepped closer and smiled enviously. Miss you’re so lucky. Your boyfriend’s so cool. I’ve heard mem like him really pamper their girlfriends. You should hold onto him tight”

Lydia didn’t think much of it, responding almost instinctively. He’s not my boyfriend. He’s my husband. We’re married.” The girl gave a thumbsup in admiration. Wishing you happiness.”

Lydia smiled, her clear eyes sparkling like fresh spring water, shining brightly under the sunlight

Henry, who had been intending to pull away from her, caught a glimpse of her smile and, for a brief moment, lost his focus. His cold expression softened just a little

When the bus reached the next stop, before Lydia could remind him, Henry took her hand and pulled her off the bus. Lydia’s heart raced, and being held like this actually felt pretty good

Just as they stepped off the platform, a flashy red Ferrari slammed on the brakes and stopped right next to them. Inside the car, Samuel stared in disbelief

He had chased the bus for half an hour, just to witness this exactscene up close

When Samuel saw Lydia’s shy expression, he was stunned and blurted out. You’re Yvette”

Lydia didn’t recognize Samuel. She only thought this handsome guy seemed a bit strange. She blinked, confused. What did you say?”

Samuel couldn’t help but take a deep breath, staring at her clear eyes and warm smile, still in shock. Henry’s brow furrowed the moment he saw Samuel

Is this

guy really that bored? Chasing a bus in his fancy car? Henry thought to himself. Back at the mall entrance, Henry had noticed Samuel’s stunned face but didn’t think much of it, never expecting Samuel would shamelessly follow them

Upon seeing how shocked Samuel was and hearing his comment, Henry’s expression darkened

Samuel, still stunned, looked at Lydia and the intertwined hands between her and Henry. He stood there, speechless, unable

to form a word

Lydia, still smiling warmly, spoke up. Hello, what did you just say?”

Henry shot a cold glance at Samuel, and Samuel immediately regained his composure, adopting his usual carefree attitude. Nothing”

Lydia raised an eyebrow slightly

Samuel, realizing his mistake, quickly flashed a charming smile and explained, Miss, don’t misunderstand. I was just complaining that he didn’t even greet me when he saw me.”

Seeing their intimate gestures, Samuel automatically switched into his sweettalking mode
