Chapter 36 You Promised Never to Divorce Me
Robert stood still, and Lily glanced at him, swallowing the words she had intended to say.
She turned to look at the singer, who had not noticed Robert until then.
He smiled at her. “Let’s head back, then.”
However, Robert quickly approached and grabbed her arm. “It’s late. Come back with me.”
Lily was startled. “Why are you here?”

He was not in the mood for explanations. Holding her wrist tightly, he started walking toward the hotel.
She tried to resist, looking back at the singer. “My friend is still here.”
Regardless, Robert paid no attention and kept pulling her along.
The singer did not follow, perhaps realizing that Lily and Robert knew each other.
He waved goodbye as she looked back.
In great strides, Robert dragged her back to the hotel and released her after reaching the elevator door.
Her wrist was visibly reddened.
Lily covered it, glaring at him. “What was that for?”
He pressed the button before turning to look at her.
Her eyes were still red, and her hair was a bit messy.
Possibly from the walk, she was slightly out of breath, her cheeks flushed.
Lily’s appearance unexpectedly reminded Robert of more intimate moments between them.
He quickly averted his gaze, focusing on the elevator numbers. “Wandering late at night with strangers, aren’t you afraid of danger?”

She moved her wrist, frowning slightly. “What’s the matter? Where I go and who I’m with are my o
business.”
He scoffed, “Do you think I want to bother with you? I promised Grandpa I’d take care of you.”
Lily’s face filled with scorn. “Yeah, right. You also promised you wouldn’t divorce me. Look where we are
now.
Robert had no comeback to that.
She looked at the elevator display, “You’ve made many promises you didn’t keep, so let’s not talk about the
rest.”
Pausing, she felt a bit out of control and added, “Also, Robert, you can’t always be involved in my life. Eventually, you’ll have other women, and I’ll have other men. We can’t keep dragging each other down.”
The elevator arrived, and Lily entered first.

Inside, she pressed her floor number and said, “Thanks for this time, but don’t bother in the future. Whatever happens is my own business. The moment we signed those divorce papers, we were done.”
He frowned slightly but soon relaxed.
He agreed. “Okay, I won’t interfere in your affairs anymore.”
Lily remained silent.
When the elevator stopped, Robert stepped out first.
She lingered after exiting the elevator while he headed straight back into his room.
Feeling a tightness in her chest, she took her time before returning to her room.
It was late, and the sea breeze just now had made Lily feel uncomfortable, so she took another shower before crawling into bed.
Her phone was by the pillow, and she sent a message to Samson.
She requested he cancel her upcoming appointments, expressing her desire to avoid Robert and take charge of her own schedule moving forward.
Samson did not reply, possibly having not seen the message yet.
