Chapter 6 You Came Here Willingly
The events that occurred after Lily came out of the bar was a blur for her. Her memories only became clearer after the point in time when she puked. She had felt lighter after puking, and her mind seemed to be less foggy as well. She took the glass of water Robert gave her and gargled before standing up. “God, that feels better,” she uttered.
Robert was leaning against his car as he lit his cigarette and unbuttoned his collar. “Well, you should go in now that you’re sober. I’m leaving,” he hissed. The night air was cooling, and it might have eased his frustration, but the unease was still there.
All of a sudden, Lily leaped up as if she was electrocuted. “Robert? Why are you here?” Robert scoffed and frowned. “If it weren’t for me, you would have been sleeping with a random guy.” Lily stood up and looked around to notice that she was at her home’s doorstep. She looked at Robert. “So, you went to the bar earlier? Were you the one who brought me back?”
Robert said nothing. He wanted to ask his driver to send her home, but with how drunk she was, Robert’s driver wasn’t confident in handling her, so Robert had to do this himself. Lily felt a sense of discomfort in her chest at that moment. So, this guy went to celebrate after all. Her anger was fueled further by the alcohol she drank. Right then, Lily went ahead and leaned close to him while smirking. “So, were you trying to catch a fling, too?”
Robert noticed what she was trying to say, and he looked into her eyes. “Too?”
Lily smiled, and she looked especially sexy because of her makeup. Robert had taken off his jacket, so he was dressed in just a white shirt and a pair of slacks. She never used to be this daring, but now Lily was tugging at Robert’s belt, her tone suggestive. “You messed up my fling, so what should we do about that?” Then, she started pulling out his tucked-in shirt.
He quickly held her hand and looked at her. At that moment, the alcohol was working its magic, fueling his flame of lust that had abated earlier. He took a deep breath and gazed at her. “Do you know what you’re doing, Lily?”
Lily chuckled. “Of course I do. Why? Don’t you?” After a while, Robert smiled. He tossed his unfinished cigarette away and cupped her chin. “Were you out tonight with the intention of getting yourself a guy?”
As Lily gazed at him, the feeling of dejection sprang up within her again. She loved this man for a long time now, but he still left her even after they got married. She had nothing to lose then, so Lily stood on tiptoe and pecked his lips. “Yeah. Why else would I be out?”
Upon hearing her words, Robert took action by bending down and lifting her up into his arms. “Great. You’ll be getting what you came for.” Lily gasped and held his neck while he strode into the house. It was fingerprint-locked, but fortunately, Lily didn’t delete his identification data, so with one hand holding her, Robert unlocked the door and went inside.
Everything after that was a blur for her, but when they were about to get down to things in the bedroom, she suddenly pinned him down. There was a burning question in her heart that she had to get an answer to. “Have you cheated on me when we were married, Robert?”
“No.” He lay on the bed, his gaze deep, his voice hoarse. Satisfied, she quickly went ahead with the highlight of their night. However, she wasn’t great at this sort of thing. She eventually let out a difficult grunt. She didn’t know how to go on then, but luckily, Robert took the reins.
We just got divorced today, and we’re doing this now? Is this really a good idea? Well, regardless, it doesn’t seem like we’re stopping now. Under the influence of alcohol, Lily drifted to sleep, but Robert stayed awake. He looked up at the ceiling in the dark, his eyes sunken.
A while later, she turned around and moved around like she used to do. After finding where Robert was, she leaned closer to hug him before resuming her sleep. Robert didn’t move, but he started to frown. A moment later, he pushed her away and went to take his phone to call Samson. “I want you to look into the deal with Pete. See if he spiked the wine he brought today,” he ordered.
