Tiffany had been stuck on Jake for four years, and her relationship was getting worse.
When she looked at Jill’s cute baby, she felt a
pang of envy.
If she and Jake were still together, she would
have a kid.
“…Let’s just stop talking about this, I have to
give the present to Matt.”
Tiffany changed the subject, thinking about
what Jill had said.
Maybe she should just date Jake.
She would control how much she liked him, and
as long as his challenge was not over, she
would have him for life.
Tiffany buried her feelings and went to the
good looking Matt, giving him the gift.
“Happy birthday, Matt!”
He opened the gift box, and inside was a car
key, and a watch.
They were surprised and loud:

“Wow, the most expensive Bugatti, and the
latest Rolex. Tiffany, you are amazing!”
“Tiffany is so into Matt!”
“Jake is not here today.”
“If he found out that after all this time he got
nothing, and Matt got a car, he must be so
mad!”
People yelled, “Tiffany needs to put the watch
on Matt!”
Tiffany was an only child, and she treated Matt
like a brother..
And with everyone yelling at her, she didn’t
refuse. She smiled and took the watch to place
it on Matt’s wrist.
It looked like an intimate move, and Matt’s eyes
were filled with desire.
Tiffany wasn’t paying attention. She was only
thinking about Jake.
He also liked cars and watches.
When the party was over, she’d buy him a new
watch, and he’d be over the moon.
“Thank you Tiffany.”
Matt lowered his head and kissed her cheek.

He was going for her lips, but she moved her
head.
People kept teasing them.
Tiffany frowned but didn’t say anything.
After the cake, she talked with Matt.
“Matt, we’re not kids anymore. We shouldn’t
kiss like that, okay?”
Matt’s face froze: “But Tiffany, we decided to
pretend to be a couple to make the guys that
broke your heart jealous, remember?”
Tiffany, “I don’t need to do that.”
Matt said, “Why?”
“You’re dating someone else. I don’t want this
to hurt your reputation!”
“I don’t care, as long as I can help you.”
Tiffany didn’t like explaining things. But she
considered Matt her brother, so she had to
make an exception.
“I don’t care about that. I used you to get Jake
jealous, and it made our relationship worse.”
“You should marry Miss Mann, and forget about
me and Jake!”
Tiffany didn’t give him the chance to argue.

Then she left.
Jake had said he was next door.
She had to see him.
She was going to let him be her boyfriend, but
first, he had to apologize for hurting Matt.
Matt saw her leaving, and was clenching his
fist.
“Why don’t you see me, Tiffany?”
“Good thing, that fool Jake died. You’re just
going to be with me now!”
Tiffany didn’t know what he was thinking. She
was walking to the room next door.
There were a lot of people inside.
A group of cops.
And a group of shady looking guys, on the floor.
There was blood everywhere.
Tiffany was reminded of Jake’s call for help and
grew more anxious.
Her face was white, “Where’s Jake? What
happened?”
Chapter 11
The young cop in charge didn’t answer, but asked her: “How do you know that Jake was

here? What is your relationship with him?”
What was their relationship?
Tiffany and Jake lived together for six months.
But, to everyone else, he was just some guy
that liked her.
She never once said that he was her boyfriend.
Tiffany didn’t know how to answer.
The young cop frowned: “If you don’t know him,
then don’t ask, we are not allowed to disclose.
any information. We have a case going on,
please leave…”
Before he finished, his boss smacked him on
the head: “Don’t be an idiot.”
The boss said to Tiffany: “I’m so sorry, he is
new here, and he doesn’t know who you are.
Then, he explained the situation: “Half an hour
ago, those guys and Jake had a problem. They
kidnapped him, and tried to assault him. He
tried to escape, and in the chaos, he fell.”
“When they saw that he was dead, they got
scared and called us.”
A bunch of guys kidnap a man, and try to
assault him.

The situation was too crazy, and even the cops.
were confused.
But this club had no cameras, so, they could
only go by what the men told them.
Tiffany went to see Jake’s body.
He had fallen from the tenth floor, his body was
mangled, and he was unrecognizable.
This wasn’t the first time she had seen him die,
but she still felt really bad.
It must have been really humiliating for him.
Matt was barely able to hide his delight, and he
pulled her arm, “Let’s go, it’s not your fault!
Jake just had bad luck!”
Tiffany, “But, I could have saved him!”
Jake had called her, and she hadn’t believed
him.
He had died less than a hundred feet from her.
While he was being humiliated and assaulted,
she had been laughing…
Jill touched her shoulder, “He loved you, so he
would not want to see you sad.”
Matt said, “Yes, it just wasn’t meant to be!
Your love is someone else.”

“Yeah, let’s go.”
Tiffany looked at his dead body one last time.
She would not get angry.
It was better that he died.
If they had assaulted him, she couldn’t have
accepted that.
Jake was not dead for real, and when he came
back, he would find her.
Next time, when he asked her for help, she
would be there.
Tiffany, along with others, left the police
station.
Jill said, “You need some rest.”
“No, Matt’s birthday is today, I can’t spoil his
fun.” Tiffany answered.
Jill looked worried: “You seem to care about
Jake, and then you don’t. I think that you are a
cold–blooded person, sometimes.”
Tiffany did not want to explain, she just got in the car.
She was the only one that knew that Jake
would be back.
Matt was right behind her, and he looked at his

phone.
There was one message.
[Jake’s bracelet has been destroyed]
Matt relaxed, and deleted the message..
Tiffany arrived back at the party. Everyone had
heard about Jake’s death.
They were all talking.
“If Jake knew that Tiffany didn’t care about his
death, he would cry.”
“She didn’t like him anyway, and he kept
annoying her.”
“He deserved it!”
Tiffany had heard all of those words before, and
they didn’t mean anything.
Matt held her close and was laughing and
talking with the others.
Tiffany had a drink, but wasn’t listening. She
was looking around.
Jake was probably back.
She didn’t know what he would look like.
Chapter 12
“Tiffany, are you looking for someone?”
Matt was jealous that she wasn’t paying

attention,
“No.”
Tiffany answered, and continued to look around.
She always acted like she was too good for
everyone.
But, today, she was answering everyone that
called her “Miss Reed.”
