Induced abortion in July
Chapter One
The night before my wedding, I found out my
fiancé, Chad, was screwing his high school
sweetheart.
They were all tangled up in each other, totally
lost in the moment. Meanwhile, a fire broke
out, and my parents… they didn’t make it.
Chad, the bastard, used the fire as an excuse
to grab control of most of my family’s estate.
He dumped me and made plans to marry his
little sweetheart, Katelyn.
I was about to lose it when my childhood best
friend, Liam, stepped in.
Out of nowhere, he proposed. He was like the
<
only solid thing left in my world.
Suddenly, I was Mrs. Liam Carter, living the
life everyone else envied.
Then, I was seven months pregnant and
overheard Liam on the phone with a buddy.
“Dude, you went way too far, Liam. You
covered up Katelyn’s arson evidence, then
you chased after Sarah, even marrying her,
and you dragged yourself into it too.”
“Come on, man, you’ve done enough for
Katelyn over the years. Sarah’s practically
about to pop. It’s time you came home,
right?”
Liam’s voice was like ice.
<
“Katelyn’s coming back soon. I’ll find a way to
get rid of this kid. My kid has to be
Katelyn’s.”
I was standing in the hall right outside his
study, and Liam was talking about Katelyn.
like she was the only woman on earth.
I felt like I’d been struck by lightning. I hadn’t
even processed what he said when I heard
Liam say, cold as anything,
“I’ll pay off a doctor to make it a stillbirth.
Katelyn’s coming home and she will not be
happy to see the baby.”
“As for Sarah, she had a miscarriage last
time a buge hemorrhage
She
time, a huge hemorrhage. She shouldn’t even
be pregnant. If the kid’s stillborn, she won’t
suspect a thing.”
His friend’s voice shot up an octave.
“Liam! Are you nuts? That’s your own flesh
and blood!”
“Katelyn is married to someone else now. The
guy doesn’t even love you, what the hell are
you doing?”
Liam sounded defeated. “So what? As long
as Katelyn is happy, I don’t care what
happens to me.”
His friend sounded exasperated.
“Sarah’s going to find out eventually. Have
く
you even thought about the fact that Katelyn
burned her parents alive? That’s two human
beings, Liam. You’re about to kill your own
kid, are you not afraid that she will hate you
and Katelyn forever?”
“Are you really willing to lose everything for
Katelyn?”
Liam didn’t answer. I heard the flick of his
lighter.
“Then she can never know. I’ll spend the rest
of my life making it up to her.”
Liam had swept in when I was at my lowest,
swearing he’d take care of me forever.
Because we’d known each other since
forever, I believed him.
I let him handle everything about the fire at
the wedding.
He told me it was an electrical problem, my
parents died in an accident.
I was starting to heal… then I found out the
man I loved was plotting to kill our baby.
Four years of marriage, and I hadn’t seen him
at all. I was living in a dream he’d carefully
constructed.
He was playing the savior while leading me
straight to hell.
I wandered out into the street, not knowing
where I was going. I must have passed out.
Г
The last thing I thought before losing
consciousness was, I felt strangely relieved.
I woke up in a hospital. Liam was there, eyes
bloodshot, voice cracking.
