- 6.
Suddenly, this rough–looking couple bursts in.
The guy grabs Sarah, trying to drag her out.
The woman is staring at me with the
strangest look.
Her eyes are tearing up, and it’s giving me the creeps.
Ethan steps in front of me, blocking her view.
Mom is pounding on Dad’s arm. “Why are you being so secretive at a time like this? What happened?”
“Aunt, let me guess…”
“Shut up!” Dad snaps, cutting Ethan off. “You
little brat, can you ever stop stealing my wife
and my daughter? This is my time to shine,
and you want to steal it? You have a death
wish!”
Sensing Ethan’s threat, Dad finally spits out
the truth.
While waiting for the results, he’s been doing some investigating.
He contacted the hospital and dug up
records, and with the help of the DNA results,
he finally figured out the truth.
Sarah’s parents did switch me and Ethan.
く
Sarah wasn’t lying about that.
What they didn’t know was…
Sarah cried all night, waking Mom up dozens
of times.
One time, Mom couldn’t take it anymore,
screaming, “Henry, go swap her! All this
crying is driving me crazy!”
Dad, who loves his wife, and also annoyed by
the crying baby, took Sarah around the
nursery, looking for a replacement.
That night, there were five newborns on the
floor, and Dad picked the one he liked best,
which was me.
Sarah’s mom collapses. “No, that can’t be!
There’s no way that’s possible.”
Sarah’s dad is stunned, staring at his hands,
then at Sarah. “All these years, have I been
hitting my own kid?”
“That’s not true! You’re lying!”
“You think Sarah is damaged goods, so you did this, right?”
“I know that it’s not easy to get into rich people’s homes, where is the alarm system!

Sarah’s mom snaps out of it, her expression brightening. “That’s right, you are right, darling. It must be like this.”
“Uncle, are you so sure Ashley’s your
biological daughter? Is it just because of the
DNA test?” Ethan asks.
“Hmph!” Dad says, looking around, “One DNA
test can be wrong, but not all of them!”
Dad throws a stack of reports out.
I pick them up, and they’re all DNA reports. Mine and Mom’s, mine and my brother’s, mine and my little brother’s, Sarah and Mom’s,
Sarah and Dad’s, Sarah and my little
brother’s, Sarah and my older brother’s…
Every single one of them confirms that I’m related to the Hayes family.
Sarah’s face is deathly pale.

She falls to the ground.
After everything is done, Dad calls the cops.
While investigating, he discovered that
Sarah’s parents were also involved in human
trafficking.
After successfully switching the babies, they
had this bright idea, why not turn this into a
business?
They actually thought it could work, and
started doing it for real.
And the reason Sarah looks so much like my
mom is because she had some work done
before coming to find us.

According to her, she only got forty percent
of the way there.
She was worried that her blood relation with
Mom might not be enough, so she thought
having a similar face would increase her
chances of winning.
Turns out, she met my dad, who doesn’t play
by the rules.
