Jennifer felt a slight lift in her mood when she saw Sarah looking so frightened.
She turned to the police officers. “Did you find anything in the software?”
“Possibly because she uninstalled the app, all the chat logs are gone,” one of them replied.
Gone?
Jennifer’s mood soured. How fortunate
for her to have such luck.
However, Sarah looked relieved. If
the chat logs were gone, there was no evidence left.

Asher, still skeptical, pressed Sarah. “What really happened? You need to explain yourself!”
Sarah took a deep breath. “Since we’re already here, I won’t hide anything anymore.”
Daniel, a little anxious, urged. “Then tell us quickly! Why would you do this?”
“Daniel, it’s because your recent single hasn’t made any progress, and the song I wrote for you never satisfied you. So, I thought I might be able to buy a song from the black market.”
“So, you registered on the black market app just to buy a song?” Daniel asked, astonished.

Sarah nodded. “Yes, that’s right. I didn’t want to mention it earlier because I didn’t want this to come out and hurt your reputation, especially with your fans.”
Daniel breathed a sigh of relief. “You should’ve said something earlier. I almost misunderstood you, thinking you were involved in Jennifer’s matter.”
“I didn’t want to admit it, but it looks like I had no choice. I was trying to protect my own reputation. Please don’t blame me for acting on my own, Daniel.”
“How could I blame you? You were only trying to help me.” Daniel’s tone softened.

Sarah had been terrified just moments
ago.
She thought she couldn’t escape this time, but she hadn’t expected the chat logs to be gone.
It seemed that uninstalling the app had worked.

“My fiancée doesn’t need to apologize to anyone,” Timothy interjected firmly.
“But Jennifer did make a mistake -shouldn’t she apologize?” Daniel questioned.

“She doesn’t have to,” Timothy’s tone was unyielding.
“As my fiancée, she doesn’t owe anyone an apology. If the Hargreaves family has an issue with that, you can cancel your partnership with the Clark family.”
Daniel was caught off guard, unable to speak. The Hargreaves family depended on the Clarks, or they would go bankrupt.

Frustrated, Daniel looked at his older brother. “Asher, you saw what happened just now. It has nothing to do with Sarah. She’s the one who’s been wronged. Shouldn’t Jennifer apologize?”
Sarah spoke up, looking pitiful. “If Jennifer really doesn’t want to apologize, I won’t hold it against her.”
Asher was torn. He had questioned Sarah before, but it would be unreasonable to let her take the fall.
He turned to Jennifer. “Maybe you should apologize to Sarah.”
Asher felt his earlier doubts about Sarah
had been unfair.

Jennifer sneered. “Why would I listen to you?”
“I’m your older brother!” Asher insisted.
“Not anymore,” Jennifer thought.

Her expression remained composed. “I think it’s better if we sever ties. That way, Sarah won’t suffer because of me. After all, I’m no longer connected to your family.”
Asher’s expression grew complicated. “Jennifer, do you really want to take it this far?”
“Asher, let’s go. Since Jennifer wants to sever ties, let her have her way. We shouldn’t let her manipulate us into backing down!” said Daniel.
