Chapter 158 Threat
Jennifer looked at Daniel and scoffed. “What gives you the right to tell me what to do?”
“Jennifer, I let you get away with a lot before, because you were angry at the family. But this is different.”
Daniel gazed at Jennifer. “You can’t work with Jason anymore.”
The incident had brought a harsh realization: Daniel needed Jennifer’s songwriting talent.
Asher had pointed out how diligently Jennifer had honed her skills, specifically to write for Daniel.
Daniel was well aware that Jennifer had poured immense effort and dedication into his work!
Jennifer laughed. “Who are you? Why should I listen to you?”
She started to walk towards Jason, but Daniel stepped in front of her. He saw the coldness in her eyes, and his

Lowering his voice, he pleaded, “Jennifer, Asher told me how hard you worked on your songwriting. I didn’t know before, so I didn’t appreciate it. But I won’t let that happen again.”
From this point forward, he resolved to truly value her music and would no longer usurp the recognition that was rightfully hers.
Hearing his justification, Jennifer couldn’t help but find it bitterly ironic.
In her past life, she had ached to hear those words, but they remained unsaid, even beyond her death.
Now, in this life, they meant nothing.
“Who said there’s a future?” she retorted coldly. “There is no future.”
Daniel grasped her wrist and whispered, “Jennifer, I know you’ve been wronged. There’s no such thing as permanent resentment between family. I really need you.”

“First of all, I’ve cut ties with your family. Secondly, I don’t need you.”
She pulled her hand away. “Don’t bother me again. Go back to your precious Sarah. You’re still defending her, right? Let her write your songs.”
With a final, scathing look, she turned and climbed into Jason’s waiting car.
Daniel lunged forward, but Jason blocked his path.
“Hey, man,” Jason said with a hint of amusement in his voice. “When your song went viral last time, I was kinda intimidated. The lyricist was seriously talented, and she was your sister.”
“Get out of my way,” Daniel growled. “I don’t have time for this.”
“But then,” Jason continued, “I find out you treat this talentless, mediocre fake sister like gold, while your own gifted sister gets nothing. Are you insane?”
He took a step back. “But seriously, thank you for delivering such a brilliant lyricist to me! They’re right when they say success is all about the support from
your rivals!”
Daniel’s eyes blazed red with fury. After all, who could stomach such humiliation dished out by their arch–nemesis?
He turned to Jennifer. “Jennifer, if you leave, don’t ever consider yourself my sister again!“,
Previously, Jennifer’s greatest fear was to be despised by her brothers!
If Jennifer would just step out of the car this time, Daniel might consider letting bygones be bygones regarding her past actions.
Without even glancing at him, Jennifer rolled up the window.
Daniel shouted with fury as Jason drove off, “Come back here, now!”
But the car did not halt.
Inside, Jennifer watched her enraged brother in the rearview mirror and burst out laughing.

Jason glanced at her, asking, “How did you ever put up with his favoritism?”
“I used to be stupid,” she replied, shrugging. “But I’m not anymore.”
“Good for you.”
Jason was in high spirits. His new song had already climbed to number three on the charts.
More importantly, it had only been released a few hours ago!
It was all thanks to Jennifer’s incredible lyrics.
Daniel had lost a powerhouse of a sister, and Jason was no longer intimidated.
Jennifer’s phone buzzed. It was a text from Timothy. Timothy: [Are you still at the studio?]
After she caught sight of the message from Timothy, her face took on a slightly awkward expression.
“Where are we going?” she asked Jason, turning away from her phone.

“To the celebration party.”
“I mean, where is it?”
Jason gave her a curious look. “Does it matter?”
“Yeah, I have to tell someone.”
“Tell your husband?”

Jason couldn’t think of anyone else. He knew about the engagement between Jennifer and Timothy, though everyone speculated it was just for show.
Jennifer nodded. “Yeah.”
Jason suddenly clammed up. “It’s a secret. You’ll see when we get there.”
Jennifer glanced back at her phone and typed a quick reply to Timothy. Jennifer: [Going to a friend’s celebration party. Won’t be home for dinner.]
As soon as she hit send, she watched as the “typing…” indicator flickered.

A spark of curiosity lit up within her as she wondered what his response would be!
Yet, she waited for what felt like an eternity, and still, no reply came from him.
She felt a twinge of foolishness waiting for his response, so she simply shut down the app and struck up a conversation with Jason instead.
Meanwhile, at Clark Group, Timothy sat at his desk, staring at Jennifer’s message. His expression was unreadable.
Was she avoiding him?
Eric approached and announced, “Mr. Clark, I’ve confirmed that Jason is having a celebration party tonight.”
