Chapter 170 Sarah’s Ploy
Daniel never expected Sarah to fall and get injured.
He was momentarily stunned, and as he was about to step. forward, Asher rushed past him to Sarah’s side.
“Are you alright?” he asked urgently.
I’m fine. It doesn’t hurt,” she replied, shaking her head.

But blood trickled down her forehead, making her injury quite evident.
Asher felt a pang of sympathy.
He chided Daniel, “Look at what you’ve done. You’ve hurt Sarah so badly. If you’re angry, deal with it yourself. Don’t take it out on others.”
Daniel stammered, “I didn’t mean to.”
He had been thinking about Jennifer’s past circumstances. He hadn’t meant to use so much force.
Sarah was trying to get in the way.
But as he looked at his hands, he felt puzzled.
He couldn’t have used that much force on her. Yet she was hurt
so badly.
Sarah forced a smile. “It’s okay, Daniel. I know you didn’t mean it. You were upset, and I understand. As long as you feel better, I’m willing to do anything.”
Daniel felt even worse.
Asher chimed in, “Sarah, you don’t have to be so understanding. It’s Daniel’s fault. He should apologize to you.”
I
hat won’t be necessary. It’s my fault he’s upset,” she said.
“That’s not right. If one does something wrong, they should apologize.” Asher insisted.
Jennifer and Jason happened to pass by and saw Sarah lying on the ground.
Jennifer gloated, “Daniel, how could you let Sarah get hurt? She has done so much for our family. Have you forgotten?”
“I don’t need you to remind me of that,” Daniel spat.
But seeing Jennifer, he softened his expression.
“It was an accident,” he explained with an unnatural expression.
He turned to Sarah. “It’s my fault. I wasn’t paying attention. I’ll take you to the hospital.”
“Daniel, it’s not a big deal. I can go to the hospital by myself. It’s
just a few stitches,” Sarah said, hoping her ploy would soften his attitude toward her.
But she hadn’t expected Jennifer to come.
Jennifer cut in, “You need stitches, and you say it’s not serious? Daniel, you’re not a worthy brother. How could you let Sarah get bart?”
Sarah gritted her teeth. “I’m really fine. I don’t need Daniel to apologize.”
Sarah had deliberately fallen to make Daniel feel guilty and relent.
But Jennifer was ruining her plan.
Jennifer saw through Sarah’s intentions. She would not let Sarah have her way.
“He must apologize,” Jennifer insisted. “Asher, you agree, right? Ever since we were kids, whenever Sarah got hurt, I was the one who had to apologize and make amends. Why should Daniel be any different?”
“Fine, I’ll apologize,” Daniel said.
Jennifer’s mockery was killing him.
He already felt terrible, and thinking about how much worse it must have been for Jennifer made him feel even worse.
Asher quickly intervened, “Alright, since he’s apologized, let’s go to the hospital.”
Asher helped Sarah up and led her to leave.
Sarah couldn’t help looking back at Daniel and Jennifer.
She was afraid Jennifer was going to talk ill of her.
She had finally made Daniel feel guilty, and she couldn’t let Jennifer ruin it.
Sarah stopped in her tracks and asked Daniel, “Daniel, aren’t you coming?”
Daniel had intended to talk to Jennifer, but seeing Sarah’s bloodied face, he hesitated.
