Chapter 177 Can’t Keep Up the Act
Sarah had expected Timothy to be angry about the entertainment headlines, thinking he would misunderstand Jennifer even at today’s event.
To her shock, he was standing firmly beside Jennifer, supporting that witch wholeheartedly.
What kind of spell had Jennifer cast on him? She wasn’t even as pretty as Sarah!
Burning with jealousy, Sarah spoke through gritted teeth. “Mr. Clark, I can let go of Jennifer hitting me, but she also struck my friend. She owes us an apology and an explanation.”
Timothy’s response was immediate. “My fiancée is known for her gentle temperament. If she was pushed to strike someone in public, you must have said or done something truly offensive. You’re the ones who should be apologizing, not her.”
His bias in protecting Jennifer couldn’t have been more obvious.
Sarah was left speechless. “You’re being ridiculously biased!”
Timothy didn’t miss a beat. “Of course, I’m biased toward my fiancée. That’s perfectly natural. What’s truly bizarre is how certain people show favoritism toward someone they’re not even related to.”

Daniel jumped to his defense. “I haven’t shown favoritism to anyone.”

But as soon as the words left his mouth, the song plagiarism incident flashed through his mind, and his confidence crumbled, leaving him feeling guilty.
Timothy continued mockingly, “Even a blind person could see how biased you’ve been.”
Daniel immediately shut his mouth, too guilty to respond.
He’d never thought of himself as playing favorites before, but thinking back now, he couldn’t deny Timothy’s accusation.
Seeing the situation deteriorate, Sarah burst into tears. “I know Jennifer has always felt that our brothers favored me, that I stole their attention and affection. But I never meant to compete with her for any of that. After all, I’m just an adopted daughter with no blood ties. I could never compare to her.”
“If you know you can’t compare to her, then you should understand your place and remember you’re just an adopted daughter when you’re around my fiancée!”
Sarah’s face flushed red at the harsh rebuke.
It wasn’t at all how she’d meant her words to be taken.
She’d only been trying to play the victim to gain everyone’s sympathy and turn them against Jennifer – she’d meant the opposite of what she’d said.

But with Timothy coming at her like this, she didn’t dare argue back.
If she defended herself now, her earlier performance would lose its effect. Why did this feel so frustrating?
Timothy glared at Sarah. “But instead of knowing your place, yu’ve gone even further! You steal all the resources and status. in the Hargreaves family that should have been Jennifer, plus all the attention from her brothers.

You claim for anything, but you’ve taken it all for yourself.
“You think your act is convincing, but not everyone’s a fool.”
Sarah panicked and turned to Daniel. “Daniel, I didn’t, I really didn’t!”
Daniel heard Timothy’s words and grew thoughtful.
He suddenly realized Timothy might have a point.
Sarah had always been the well–behaved one around them, never fighting or competing for anything. They all saw her as their sensible little sister.
Jennifer, on the contrary, seemed to fight for everything, always trying to get her way.
She was constantly causing trouble, much to everyone’s

annoyance.
But then Daniel realized something. In every conflict, Sarah somehow ended up benefiting, while Jennifer was always the one compromising, backing down, and taking the loss.

Just as Timothy had pointed out, Sarah was the one who came ont on top, not Jennifer.
Daniel’s expression darkened at this revelation. He wondered if he had been wrong all along.
Zorro cleared his throat. “Now that both parties are here, let’s discuss how to resolve this incident of physical assault.”
The matter of favoritism was a family issue, after all.
Sarah spoke up. “I’ve already stated my terms. I’m willing to let this go with Jennifer, but she must apologize for hitting my friend.”
Timothy responded coldly, “An apology is out of the question. You must have been the ones who started with verbal abuse.”
Sadie blurted out. “Do you have any proof? Everyone saw Jennifer throw the first punch.”
“Who says I don’t have proof?”
Jennifer pulled out a voice recorder. “I usually carry this to record my daily work notes at the studio so I don’t forget anything. I never thought it would come in handy today.”
