Chapter 34 Loud and Clear
Daniel let out a frustrated huff, realizing that Jennifer’s stunts. were merely a pretext to voice her demands.
Jennifer boldly stated, “First, I won’t be writing you a new song. Second, I’m moving out.”
Surprise flickered in Daniel’s eyes.
He grasped her wrist tightly. “Jennifer, there’s a limit to how much someone can take! What else are you after?”
He mused, “I’ve already bent over backwards to accommodate her. Isn’t that enough?”
Without warning, Jennifer lashed out, swinging her cane into Daniel’s shin. The force sent plates crashing to the floor, scattering food everywhere.
Sarah barely managed to step aside as the mess splattered across her.
Silence fell over the dining room.
Jennifer fixed her steely gaze on the group, a frown etched onto her face. “Can we finally have a proper conversation without the theatrics?”
She mused, “My words are loud and clear. Why couldn’t they

just let me go?”
Daniel’s voice broke the silence. “Are you out of your mind, Jennifer? Are you okay, Sarah?”
“I’m fine,” Sarah replied, brushing crumbs off her clothes.

“Look at your hands! They’re burnt! There’s no way you’re fine! Jennifer did that on purpose! You had plans for your crafts!” Daniel exclaimed, anger bubbling up.
With tears welling in her eyes, Sarah defended Jennifer, “Daniel, I know what Jennifer wants. Maybe I should just move out. I’m not really a part of the Hargreaves family; living here is just putting a strain on all of you.”
Asher interjected, frustration creeping into his words, “Sarah, don’t say that! When we brought you back, we welcomed you into the Hargreaves family. You belong here.”
“Honestly, Asher, I’ve mentioned before that Jennifer’s attitude needs an adjustment. But no, you insisted on bringing her back into the fold, and look where we are now! She doesn’t give a damn about your struggles, not even a little! She’s cold–hearted! What’s so special about her that we should treat her well?” Daniel said.
Asher turned to Jennifer, his brow furrowed. “You should apologize to Sarah, Jennifer!”
It struck Asher as bemusing how Jennifer had escalated her antics.

He thought, “She used to be fiery but what is happening now? It is beyond the pale.”
Jennifer scoffed, an expression of disdain crossing her face. “Apologize? Me? A cold–hearted person like myself? Not a chance.”
With her irritation bubbling over, she turned on her heel and headed for the door, cane in hand.
Jennifer thought, “I’ve explained myself countless times, but nobody ever listens, and honestly, I’m tired of compromising.
I used to care about family and keeping the peace, but now?
I’m done with that nonsense!
Why should I be tolerant and give in like I did before?”
Sarah pretended to be guilty and looked at Daniel. “Did I do something wrong? Did I upset Jennifer again?”
Daniel quickly reassured her, “No, Sarah, you haven’t. Amanda, could you fetch the first aid kit?”
Amanda said, “I guess I should help Ms. Hargreaves get out of here, since she’s having such a hard time moving.”
With that, Amanda hurried away.
Asher surveyed the wreckage of the dining room, his headache

He was beginning to regret bringing Jennifer back into their lives; this chaos was overwhelming.
Sarah said softly, her eyes filled with concern, “Your head is pounding again, isn’t it? Thank goodness the medicinal soup didn’t spill. Drink some; it might help.”

Daniel said, “Asher, honestly, I think the soup is the only reason your headache feels a bit better. It has nothing to do with Jennifer.”
Asher took a deep breath, staring down at the bowl of soup Sarah had made with uncertainty.
He lifted the bowl to his lips, hoping the soothing warmth would ease his mind.
He hadn’t slept a wink last night, and that was truly a torment.
The moment Jennifer stepped out of the Hargreaves Villa, she felt an immense weight lift off her shoulders. The air felt fresher, the sun a bit brighter; she couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, Amanda burst out of the house after her, holding something in her hand.
“Wait, Ms. Hargreaves! Here, take this card,” she said,

extending a bank card toward Jennifer.

Confusion lined Jennifer’s face. “What are you doing? I’m not in need of money.”
Amanda shot back, urgency spilling from her voice. “Don’t be ridiculous! I know Mr. Daniel Hargreaves cut off your credit card. That’s just cruel! You’re a member of the Hargreaves family. Why should you live like a common maid? Sarah’s manipulations have pushed you out, and now you’re stuck living with that dangerous Timothy.”
At the mention of Timothy, Jennifer felt a mix of frustration and amusement. “Amanda, please keep the card. I’m not struggling financially; the Clark family is more than capable of taking care of me.”
Furrowing her brow, Amanda insisted, “Ms. Hargreaves, I’m just worried about you. I’ve heard whispers that Timothy has ties to the mafia. He could snap without a second thought! Living with him is like walking straight into the lion’s den.”
Jennifer couldn’t help but chuckle at the overblown fear surrounding Timothy.
“It seems the world really misunderstands him,” she mused.
But she knew trying to explain herself would be futile; Amanda was set in her beliefs.
“Amanda, I promise I’ll look after myself. You don’t need to worry about me,” she said gently.

“But Ms. Hargreaves, how will you manage on your own? Let me come with you to the Clark family! I can’t just leave you to fend for yourself.”
Jennifer said earnestly, “Amanda, I need you to stay with the Hargreaves family as my eyes and ears.
“If I hope to leave here safely and regain everything that’s rightfully mine, I need you to keep me informed.”
With a reluctant nod, Amanda seemed to understand, though her expression was still laden with concern.
With her cane in hand, Jennifer took one last look at the villa before making her way down the path. She knew hailing a cab was a lost cause here, and the bus stop would be quite the trek.
As she hobbled along, lost in her thoughts, a familiar honking sound broke through the air.
Turning around, she spotted Asher’s car pulling up.
He leaned over from the passenger seat and called out, “Get in! It’s too hard to find a taxi around here.”
From the back seat, Daniel rolled down the window, his tone laced with irritation. “Asher, Sarah needs to go to the hospital Don’t worry about Jennifer. She has enough of a backbone to manage on her own.”
Jennifer felt her patience slip away. “Seriously? What’s this

Just then, a voice came with another honk. “Ms. Hargreaves, Mr. Clark has arrived to pick you up. Please get in the car!”
