Chapter 55 We’re Even Now
Daniel let out a painful scream. “Jennifer, what are you doing?”
Jennifer looked at him coldly. “We’re even now.”
“Even? What do you mean by that? Explain yourself!” Daniel demanded.
Jennifer crossed her arms over her chest. “I think we’re even, and that’s all that matters. It doesn’t matter what you say.”
In the past, Daniel had often used moral coercion against her.
Now, she was simply done tolerating it.
Daniel stared at Jennifer’s back, clutching his foot where the stool had struck, sucking in a breath. He thought, “Jennifer’s really getting bold. She actually dared to lay hands on me!”
Frustrated, Daniel snapped, “What’s with this sudden arrogance, Jennifer? Just because you got a doctor from the Clark family to check on you, what’s so impressive about that?”
“Daniel, this isn’t her fault,” Sarah interjected, her voice laced with feigned gentleness, hiding the fury simmering beneath the surface. “It’s my fault. My hand injury wasn’t that serious, but all these years I couldn’t overcome the psychological trauma. That’s why I kept making Jennifer do my homework. This was my mistake.”

“Sarah, don’t say that. I know you’re not like that. It’s just that we haven’t found the cause of your condition before. I’ll take you to see a psychiatrist. Maybe we can figure it out, and you’ll get better soon.”
Sarah’s expression stiffened for a moment. “No, that’s okay. I’ll work on overcoming it on my own.”
She had no intention of going to a mental hospital. There was nothing wrong with her to begin with.
“Sarah, don’t worry. If you get treatment for your hand, you’ll be able to do models on your own and won’t have to rely on anyone else. I believe that once your hand heals, the models you create will be just as good as Jennifer’s. You need to believe in yourself.”
It was clear that Sarah didn’t want to go.
Her expression was worse than if she had been crying.
She certainly knew her own abilities, and no matter what, she couldn’t compare to Jennifer. That was why she had come up with the plan to fake an injury, hoping to use it as an excuse to make Jennifer do her homework for her.
If her hand truly healed, she would lose her excuse.
But she couldn’t refuse, too obviously, or it would raise suspicions.

Reluctantly, she agreed to go to the psychiatrist.

Jennifer took the elevator to the first floor. As she thought about Daniel’s agonized scream earlier, her mood lifted significantly.
She thought, “If I keep letting them walk all over me, they’ll just take advantage. They won’t wake up until I stand up for myself.”
Soon, Jennifer spotted Timothy, who was stepping out of the exclusive elevator.
She walked over, her concern evident. “How did it go? What did Dr. Hadley say?”
Timothy’s expression was as cold and regal as ever. “It’s nothing serious.”
Jennifer turned her attention to Eric since she wasn’t going to get any real answers from Timothy.
Eric smiled. “It’s really no big deal. The only thing is, there’s a stitch on his forehead.”
“Will it leave a scar?”
Jennifer glanced at Timothy’s forehead. “A face this handsome, it would be such a shame if a scar stayed.”
Timothy pursed his lips, looking displeased. “Only women care about scars.”
“But now you’re my fiancé, and your face is my face. Of course, it

can’t have a sear. If it does, I’ll make sure to tell Sandy’s family every time I see them!”
Jennifer said this seriously.
After all, it was because of her that Timothy had gotten hurt, and deep down, she did care about it.
Since Sarah arrived at the Hargreaves Villa, the one being pampered and protected had been Sarah.
It had been a long time since anyone had protected her like this.
Although it was all part of the act, she still felt a little touched.
Timothy’s expression softened slightly. “What about your foot?”
“It’s fine, just need to rest more,” Jennifer replied.
She didn’t mention anything about Daniel and Sarah.
But sometimes, things just didn’t go as expected.
“Jennifer, stop right there!”
Daniel wheeled himself toward her, his face contorted with rage.
Seeing Daniel in a wheelchair surprised Jennifer. She thought, “Did I actually break his bones?
Am I really that precise lately?

Sandy was also injured by me, with broken ribs!”

Jennifer looked down at Daniel from her higher vantage point. “What’s the matter? You want to discuss wheelchair experiences with my fiancé?”
Daniel’s face turned pale with anger. “You did this to me and you’re just walking away?”
Daniel was furious.
If Jennifer hadn’t struck his foot with the stool, he wouldn’t be sitting in a wheelchair now.
“I’m just giving you a taste of your own medicine. Now you can experience what it’s like to break a bone and sit in a wheelchair.”
Daniel seethed, his face flushed with embarrassment and rage. “It’s different! I was teaching you a lesson for Sarah.”
Timothy lifted his gaze and, with a cold tone, said, “What is Sarah? She is nothing!”
