Sarah assumed that Jennifer had bought the fake dress herself, but she didn’t know that the dress had actually been sent by Angelina.
Of course, Jennifer wasn’t foolish enough to tell her that.
After hearing Sarah’s words, Timothy’s expression became
serious.
He had thought that Jennifer had already clarified that the dress was a gift from the Clark family, but from what Sarah was saying, it seemed like Jennifer hadn’t said anything at all.
He was surprised that others had been led to believe she had bought counterfeit goods.
Timothy glanced at Jennifer again, astonished at how much she cared about protecting the Clark family’s reputation.
Jennifer had no need to take the blame for the situation. After all, it was the Clark family that had made the mistake.
Thinking back to the results of the investigation, Timothy felt a surge of anger. He looked up at Jennifer and said, “Get in the
car.”

As Jennifer walked toward him, Sarah followed close behind. “Mr. Clark, may I catch a ride with you?”
Timothy’s tone was laced with sarcasm. “I’m a bit of a clean freak.”

Sarah awkwardly forced a smile. “Well, Mr. Clark, I’m actually a clean freak too. Looks like we have something in common.”
Eric, who had been standing nearby, chimed in with a biting remark, “Ms. Campbell, I’m not sure if your hearing is faulty, or if you’re just ignoring what Mr. Clark said. Let me translate for you. When he says he has a clean freak, he means he’ll never let someone with questionable character sit in his car.”
Sarah’s eyes immediately filled with tears. “Mr. Clark, that’s a bit too much. After all, our two families are connected by
marriage. If you don’t want to give me a ride, that’s fine, but why say something so hurtful?”
“Who are you, an outsider, to claim to be part of the Hargreaves family? Get lost, and don’t show your face to me again.”
Jennifer stood there, stunned.
She hadn’t expected Timothy to be so cold and harsh to such a fragile woman.
And she felt he even looked a little handsome doing it.
The car left, leaving Sarah standing there in an awkward and helpless state.

Inside the car, Jennifer glanced at the man next to her and said seriously, “Mr. Clark, there seems to be something on your face.”
Timothy looked at her, puzzled. “What is it?”
“A little bit of… handsomeness.”
Before Jennifer could even finish her teasing, the car swerved. slightly.
Her body lurched forward, landing directly against Timothy. His strong arm quickly wrapped around her, holding her steady, while he turned coldly toward the driver. “What happened?”
The driver frantically apologized. “Sorry, Mr. Clark. I… I swerved to avoid a stone on the road.”
The driver was stunned by Jennifer’s flirtatious comment.
Eric, sitting in the front passenger seat, was so shocked that he couldn’t speak, thinking, “Ms. Hargreaves is really brave, flirting with Mr. Clark like that!”
Once the car stabilized, Timothy immediately released his hold on Jennifer, his expression returning to one of indifference as though nothing had happened.
Jennifer blushed and straightened up, feeling a little
embarrassed. She thought she might have just touched his chest
muscles.

The atmosphere in the car was awkward. Timothy had a complex expression on his face as if he was about to say something but held back. “You should watch fewer soap operas.”
“Mr. Clark, you know about soap operas? I thought you didn’t care about these things. Today, you’ve earned a few more points in my book. Sarah’s face turned completely green just now, Jennifer teased.
After Sarah’s earlier failed attempt to manipulate Timothy with her act, she clearly hadn’t learned her lesson and still tried to play the same game.

“A little injustice like that? It’s nothing. Sarah and I have argued over so many similar things before. But I was honestly surprised that the dress turned out to be a fake. Still, I believe it has nothing to do with Angelina. She would never do something to humiliate me on purpose. This is called trust!”
Jennifer looked at Timothy, genuinely curious about how the situation had unfolded.
Timothy sighed and explained, “The dress was bought by my grandmother, but it was swapped out by Mary. The one you have now ended up in Sandy’s hands.”
“Ah, that makes sense. No wonder there was such a mix–up.”
Now, it all made sense.
Timothy’s tone became serious. “This is a mistake on the Clark family’s part. What kind of compensation do you want?”
